On today’s agenda: Item SCP-019: Monster Pot, Object class: Keter.
SCP-019 appears to be a very large ceramic vase, presumably created in Classical Greece. Periodically, entities emerge from SCP-019, which are collectively known as SCP-019-2. The entities vary in many aspects, but tend to be small, vaguely humanoid, and extremely hostile. Although fairly delicate, they are reasonably strong and pose a considerable threat in large numbers.

In response to the recent adaptation of SCP-019-2, the use of a powerful cutting laser grid just above SCP-019 is advised, allowing minimum interaction with the SCP while neutralizing instances of SCP-019-2 in an effective manner.

Yeah seems in the past year or so they pop up like the monsters from SCP-019, watching them, liking and subscribing seems to increase their growth rate in size and in numbers :P yes I don't complain either. It is a fun and interesting fiction.

I've seen a lot of comments asking whether doing X works. Here's the thing, the monsters spawned adapts, any disturbance to the pot creates more monsters, any object that enters the pot triggers "flood" event. Start thinking like The Foundation, is it worth it to risk the pot spawning endless waves of monsters that are nigh immortal? Of course not. That's why it takes so long for new special containment procedures get approved

Too afraid I think. They don't know what it'll do if they close the lid. It might blow up and release an ass load of monsters straight away, it'll completely ignore the cement, or it just stops. 33% chance of it being catastrophic, 33% of it does nothing, 33% of it gets neutralized. I think in the eye of the foundation, it's not worth it

Well you'd have to put the cement in the vase, inducing the production of instances of SCP-019-2 (the "flood" reaction). Not to mention that you don't know the exact volume inside, wich could very well turn out to be a portal to another dimension. And if you were talking about just cement the top, I think that's the same as putting it in a very small cage and I don't think this solution is sufficient, as the need to incinerate them showed us

Damn, normally they don't go for straight up destruction of SCPs, but if given the chance they'd totally trash this one. The only ones (off the top of my head) that they honestly trying to kill (that wasn't some malicious or greedy attack) is like, the Shy guy and indestructible lizard.

I'm always curious why the foundation seemingly never gets the idea to simply block the entrance to an anomaly that spawns things off. If they don't have enough room to properly materialize, they shouldn't have enough room to do any damage to the blocking mechanism. Either way, they can only emerge one at a time. Think Star Gate Iris.

The foundation's researchers are terrible at their jobs. Where are the real tests on this infinite(?) supply of goblins? Okay, they don't live long, they eat chicken (so we know it's not just humans they hate), and they have a pretty comprehensible anatomy - at first. When they started becoming fireproof, what changed? Is the effect something we can duplicate? Can we force specific "evolutions" by varying the lethal environment - a pool of liquid nitrogen to produce cold-resistant goblins? Are the goblins edible? Can we substitute them for some of the D-Class folks we're sacrificing to certain other SCPs to keep them in check? This thing's not a pot of monsters, it's an apparently endless supply of test subjects that we don't have to requisition from the prison system. Have we even tried using gas to subdue them reasonably intact instead of burning them to ash or shooting them? Wasted resource here.

I think that the detail of their vocalizations being reminiscent of a Hellenic language basically confirms that, it’d otherwise be kind of a weird detail to include. Plus Pandora’s box was a “pithos” in the original myth, which is more like a jar or pot than a box.

Supposedly, once the box had been opened, it would never close again (not that the detail is relevant here) ; and it was bottomless, with a few remains of the sins that had spilled out ocassionally poking their head. Either way, I guess my assumption's a bit misleading then lol

To me that’s a signal to the reader that this is meant to be inspired by or related to Pandora’s box, since it’s a Greek myth
