SCP-096 Shy Guy ESCAPE - Incident 096-1-A Containment Breach (SCP Animation)

SCP-096 is a Euclid Class anomaly also known as the Shy Guy.
SCP 096 is one of the most famous and feared of the anomalies kept in containment by the SCP Foundation. Normally docile, the Shy Guy will enter a rage state whenever someone views its face, and when that happens, SCP096 will stop at nothing until it tracks down the person who saw them and terminates them. Even a picture of its face is enough to start it on a murderous rampage. Unfortunately, that's exactly what happened in one of the worst SCP Foundation Containment Breaches on record, one that has become known as Incident 096-1-A.

Hate (love) to be "that" guy, but the poison gas killed all the witnesses on-site, giving way for 096 to focus on the mountaineer. The ethics committee would have a field day with this protocol. In future breakouts d-class, then all other onsite faculty should be ready to distract 096. Edit: had to rewatch the video, i had assumed the scp knew the target from the very beginning. Once they know the target, they could distract 096 long enough to evacuate the target out of populated areas. This would only work when they know who the target is.

It’s a great SCP and one of the very first SCPs that got me to love the universe but regardless of that Ive never seen anyone pointing out the quite obvious plot holes surrounding this SCP that others don’t have and I’ll list a few... It’s containment makes sense as far as no cameras or windows inside its enclosure but what doesn’t make sense is that every guard assigned to 096 for some reason decided it would be a good idea to take a peek at the monster while it was escaping. Either they weren’t informed or WAY too many forgot and or were overwhelmed with emotion and ended up looking at its face just to die. Another thing that doesn’t make sense is why the containment and containment breach plans involve any type of weaponry as it’s been extensively shown that there isn’t anything that can stop or even slow down the shy guy once its face has been seen. You got dudes in helicopters trying to snipe it with anti-material rifles and MTF squads equipped with rifles trying to shoot at it once seen for what reasons? Just wasting resources on pointlessly trying to stop it when the focus should be on minimizing casualties on its rampaging path. I get that what triggers the shy guy is someone seeing its face even in pictures but why not permanently cover its face with something? It won’t stop the shy guy from triggering if someone were to see its face in a picture but it stops literally everyone from seeing 096’s face on its way to kill. The goggles would be great if working properly but are at the very least obsolete if a permanent covering was on its face.

096 and the old man both have a plot hole that is surprisingly rarely if ever done. The Old man literally has a cage suspended in mid air with multiple layers of walls are various lengths apart from eachother to try to and confuse the guy who literally teleports. Reasonable. This same effort is simply not put into 096. They use a BAG over his head. a BAG. I've never even heard of anyone saying "What if we put like, idk, a box or cage over his head? Making it completely Opaque? Breather holes somewhere, Like it to a tube that just give him oxygen that way if he needs it? They can suspend a giant multilayered metal box in mid air, but can't just cover the dudes face in a more permanent manner? Obviously this doesn't solve the issue presented by the Hiker, but it would stop the major news network thing, and it would leave only a select few pictures in existence to actually be worried about, which is simply a risk that seems must always exist, but one that can also actually be solved.

Shy guy is docile unless its face is seen. Updated Containment Plan: When SCP-096 is in a docile state, it is to be loaded onto a automated space craft, preprogramed with escape trajectory from the orbit of earth, preferably with a collision course for some distant, uninhabited planetoid with sufficient gravity to keep it grounded. Because SCP-096 seemingly lacks the capability of either flight or teleportation, this form of extra-planetary containment will effectively neutralize any threat from this SCP poses to any person or entity on Earth.
