Hate (love) to be "that" guy, but the poison gas killed all the witnesses on-site, giving way for 096 to focus on the mountaineer. The ethics committee would have a field day with this protocol. In future breakouts d-class, then all other onsite faculty should be ready to distract 096. Edit: had to rewatch the video, i had assumed the scp knew the target from the very beginning. Once they know the target, they could distract 096 long enough to evacuate the target out of populated areas. This would only work when they know who the target is.

Help with containment: Have D-class go to the cell regularly to put a bag over 096 head. Create a helmet that allows 096 to see (so it won't feel the need to remove it), but hides 096's face; this might limit the spread if 096 escapes, because bystanders wouldn't see his face as he runs past to kill the one who saw it's picture. Thing about 096 is that its not a precision weapon. If you were to compare it to a weapon, I would say its like chlorine gas. While 096 will go to the target, there's still the distance between point A to point B and anything in that distance would need to be evacuated and blindfolded. It’s a great SCP and one of the very first SCPs that got me to love the universe but regardless of that Ive never seen anyone pointing out the quite obvious plot holes surrounding this SCP that others don’t have and I’ll list a few... It’s containment makes sense as far as no cameras or windows inside its enclosure but what doesn’t make sense is that every guard assigned to 096 for some reason decided it would be a good idea to take a peek at the monster while it was escaping. Either they weren’t informed or WAY too many forgot and or were overwhelmed with emotion and ended up looking at its face just to die. Another thing that doesn’t make sense is why the containment and containment breach plans involve any type of weaponry as it’s been extensively shown that there isn’t anything that can stop or even slow down the shy guy once its face has been seen. You got dudes in helicopters trying to snipe it with anti-material rifles and MTF squads equipped with rifles trying to shoot at it once seen for what reasons? Just wasting resources on pointlessly trying to stop it when the focus should be on minimizing casualties on its rampaging path. I get that what triggers the shy guy is someone seeing its face even in pictures but why not permanently cover its face with something? It won’t stop the shy guy from triggering if someone were to see its face in a picture but it stops literally everyone from seeing 096’s face on its way to kill. The goggles would be great if working properly but are at the very least obsolete if a permanent covering was on its face.

Ya, Dr Dan was right. Technically speaking he only amplified the issues, it was possible that the program would never work. I mean it took a 4 pixel face reveal to trigger SCP-096. The Disaster Shy-Guy could create is a very big risk the foundation didn't take seriously, but Dan did understand, and he knew the only way that the Foundation understand would be a catastrophic failure.

Vision, yes, as visions are usually visually accurate. Dream/Hallucination, no. If they havent seen or heard of 096, then their brain will just create a random image for it. and there is a 1 in 100,000,000,000,000 chance the image created would be 100% accurate.
