My guess on what happened? Someone tried to create mascots that could function without people inside of them, to spare cast members from having to wear those costumes in the hot, Florida sun. However, nothing can go right in the world of the anomalous, so those things went out of control, ran away, and created those brochures in order to mark their prey, namely stupid, curious people.

I'm frankly shocked that these unlicensed mascot monsters have continued to exist for so long with the Mouse Empire opposing them. That could be an interesting seed for an SCP story/article. You have one of these franchise-related anomalies (like this one, the Garfield monster, etc), but by the time the Foundation learns about the anomaly, the company who owns the IP is already hunting or containing it at a level similar to what the Foundation or GOC are capable of. Their great wealth, media control, and legal team is doing a great cover-up. Maybe they then cooperate with the Foundation, for their expertise in the anomalous, but insist on staying involved because of their own interests.

Okay my theory is that these were produced by Marshall Carter & Dark Ltd. Considering Disney tried not just killing 3640 instances, but also pursuing legal action, that means that wherever they came from, it had to be a business or person that can be sued. I think in the SCP Universe this is a fairly reasonable theory as suing a corporation that profits off the selling of the anomalous is on the same level of ridiculous as suing a pre-school & day care center for having posters and stickers of characters painted and decorated on the walls.

As someone who has lived in Florida for close to 18 years, the fact that Florida is known for having “Beautiful Summer Weather” should automatically classify the state as an anomaly. Summer only produces two types of weather, Hell’s Frying Pan and Storms that invoke fear. Florida is always hot, but it’s so much worse in the summer, the humidity here doesn’t help. And in the summer there are intense thunder storms that sneak up on you. Like, you’ll be chilling at the beach and the sky will be clear, but the moment you look behind you you’ll see a blanket of dark clouds that look like they carry the souls of the damned, and they approach FAST. When they arrive the sky gets incredibly dark, there is a lot of wind, and there is a lot of thunder and lightning, sometimes the thunder is close enough that you will feel it. And don’t get me started on hurricane season, because that is in summer too. Even if none of the hurricanes hit, you still have to keep watch and stay updated. And if they hit, even if it is a small one, depending on where you live you might have to evacuate, especially if you live by the beach. And not counting the weather, cicadas, mosquitos, and people are more prominent in the summer too. Honestly, if you are visiting Florida, visit during winter or fall, there is less people, less heat, less storms, less hurricanes. It’s still hot, but it’s way better than in the summer. There is only about a two week period where it’ll drop below freezing at night in the winter, and that is if you are lucky (or unlucky if you don’t like the cold). TLDR; Florida is an anomaly with a memetic effect because there is no way enough people endured a summer in Florida and went “ah yes, beautiful weather” for the state to become well known for it’s Beautiful Summer Weather.
