Brilliant bureaucratic detail on the containment procedure. It actually sounds like the kind of dry formal documentation an entity like the Foundation would use as standard. More of this from SCP writers, please. The Foundation are a professional defence entity, not a university campus drama group.

The modern Foundation is more a short story collection than college humor. That said, the early (sub 1000) and first SCPs (like 1471) have a high likelihood of referencing the self-insert characters, and representing the Foundation at its most sociopathic. The nice thing is the Foundation is officially multiversal. So you can pick and choose your own headcanon and it's just as valid as any other. My personal headcanon is of a Foundation that finds most other variants of itself to be an SCP that requires containment (largely due to their psychopathy and hypocrisy, but also due to being credible threats to their own reality and veil). There are enough hints in the thousands of extant SPCs that someone(s) out there feel the same. I may write it up as an SCP if 1) it hasn't already been done, and C) I think of a presentation worthy enough to get some of the good SCP channels on KZbin interested. But I digress. Everyone's got their own POV on what the SCP Foundation should and shouldn't be. The basic lore of the Foundation means all of those opinions are valid. Take what you want and ignore the rest.

Euclid just means it's not easy to contain (which is Safe) but also not very difficult to contain (Keter). Complexity of containment only factors if that complexity means there's a higher than normal chance of the SCP escaping containment or breaching the veil. 430, despite its theoretically unlimited range, is only going to result in a single disappearance per death of SCP-430-2. Something like that can be handled with a basic cover story and routine application of amnestics if the teleportation is witnessed. Adding to that fact that the capture effect extends radially from SCP-430's location at a snail's pace, it's likely that someone in the facility it's contained in will be the next 430-2 when the current one dies. All the complexity is to prevent 430 from taking someone unexpected (specifically, Foundation staff) and keep the anomaly focused on chosen targets.

From the way I understood it, since they could actually remove the rust from it for testing, I think rust just kinda appears out of it? You know if a person can just sign someone else’s name on the contract then why even bother letting someone sign it themselves? Nevertheless, that D-class should have been given a staring contest with SCP-173
@samgordon9756
@samgordon9756 9 ай бұрын
That D class should have been considered for MTF duty. Outside the box thinking seems to be lacking in the MTFs and the fatality rate is comparable to regular D class use. Not saying he was a good fit, because he wasn't. But that's still worth considering before just offing him. Though, I agree, testing with other highly fatal anomalies is better than literally (not figuratively) wasting a D class. If you take all the SCPs as canon, the Foundation is using more D class than there have ever been death row inmates. This isn't good for the veil as someone would have noticed by now (especially in light of how hard it is to execute people in the West. There are WAY too many white American D class. You would expect more Chinese, Indian, Somali, and various other nationals of locally overpopulated/despotic regimes or nations with a tradition of disappearing dissidents. So, yeah. Unruly D class shouldn't be terminated. They should be assigned to more deadly testing that requires less cooperation on their part, while the more useful D class should be preserved to get the maximum value out of them, up to and including MTF duty. I'm adding that to my headcanon, anyway.

@@samgordon9756 The problem there are the unknown unknowns. So you put D-69420 in the room with the glumpelshluber beast. Whilst thoroughly licked and swallowed he amazingly emerged two days later alive, sane and only ever so slightly digested. You've got him for potentially another three weeks. So you put him in with the demonic tickle sticks of Lemuria. He lasts a week before a mild coronary event requires his removal. Once his exposure is ended he recovers in a matter of hours. Surprisingly swiftly considering past testing but not statistically unusual. For the final week D-69420 is placed in a room with the upside down head doll. All testing has indicated that the doll is only activated and animated when a subject tries to right the head. The D class are told never to do this and just to keep waving at the doll in a friendly manner. On the morning of day two of their shift D-69420 walks into the Doll's enclosure drinking a cup of coffee and holding a newspaper. He waves at the Doll. The cup's contents erupts into flame, the newspaper seemingly disintegrated and in the time taken for the security cameras to adjust to the flare of light from the coffee, both the doll and D-69420 have been dismembered and their hearts switched places. So... was it the Doll that killed the D class? The coffee cup as some un known anomaly? The long term effect of demonic tickle stick exposure or the unusual reaction to the stomach fluids of the glumpelshluber beast... or a combination, or was it the D class himself? Personally I blame the newspaper. The point being you lose the virgin status of a D-Class when it's been used and any further test results or interactions could be subject to unforseen consequences. Best to use a fresh D class each time.

Including this detail was a pretty big error by the author without considering it more thoroughly. As it is written, this SCP would be one of the most powerful containment utilities at the foundation's disposal, as it can theoretically contain any humanoid shaped entity with essentially zero risk or effort. All you would need to know is a name, and this thing will immediately contain them while also psychologically preventing it's prisoner from wanting to escape, even if it wasn't indestructible.

i think once it goes into the active state it will start searching for a person to be forced into it, in a gradually expanding radius, meaning if someone more important than a class D commits blasphemy or defamation against nobility they would be the target, but it won't see them as a target indefinitely unless by as stated a signed document for example, so while its in passive state someone could commit those acts without harm. so the safest course of action is to have one class D in it and try to keep them alive for as long as possible (430-2) and one class D in the adjacent cell with a written act of blasphemy as a runner-up (430-C) and in that way they can "pick" people that are likely to be unimportant and suitable, lowering the damage and amount of people it kills dramatically. thats what i gathered from it at least, it can be a little confusing, hope this helped :) (edit) now that ive given it some extra thought maybe they would be better off just shooting it into space (because 10 meters an hour is a very slow expanding radius) and it probably wouldnt bother anyone on earth ever.

Sorry for being a nerd but aspirin wouldn't be an adecuadate prevention for deep venous trombosis, enoxaparin would actually be more beneficial.

This SCP is one of the reasons why the Global Occult Coalition's goal in neutralizing anomalies is justified. A bit of a critique here. I would prefer you say "430 dash 2" rather than just saying "430 2" because I get confused and think you said "432".

You need to say "four thirty DASH two" for any blind audience members out there. I know, given the context, you could assume that there's a dash.... but it would still be nice to do for clarity.

So how do people die in this thing? From the incident report, the researcher could have survived anywhere from less than 1 year to well over 100. Do they perish from normal causes, or are things expedited somehow?
