SCP-500 is a Safe Class anomaly also known as Panacea.
SCP 500 is a small plastic can which at the time of writing contains forty-seven pills. One pill, when taken orally, effectively cures the subject of all diseases within two hours, exact time depending on the severity and amount of the subject's conditions. Despite extensive trials, all attempts at synthesizing more of what is thought to be the active ingredient of the SCP500 pills have been unsuccessful.

I'd imagine if you try to clone the 30 percent pills they'd be even less effective. Maybe no more effective than standard OTC medicine and they'll only relieve symptoms but not cure any disease or sickness outright

Rather than trying to improve the pill by putting it into the machine at the fine or very fine setting, why not try to regress it with either the rough or course settings. The idea would be that it might reduce it into less complex components which could easily be gathered and then run back through the machine to create more pills.

@@romankvapil9184 well if what he's trying to cure is in fact real then in theory the pills would cure it, it is a 100% effective cure all after all. and since all the deaths involved with the plague doctor are basically failed attempts at curing whatever it is he is trying to cure, he might even look at the pills as the answer he's been looking for and he might try recreating them... but my guess would be in the end even he won't be able to duplicate them, and that might drive the plague doctor mad.

@@xXzman9000Xx He doesn't get mad at people. He will go out of his way to try and "cure" them regardless. He doesn't get emotional. He's written to be a calm and collected individual who you could have a decent discussion, and socialize with him so long as you don't seem to be "infected" with the pestilence. He just won't outright state what his method is and why. He's, written to be dodgy like that. But he's very convinced his method is the best to whatever the "pestilence" he sees in people. Until there are new logs that say otherwise, that's just how he is. I'm just going by the site's documentation of him.

I feel like even tho the "duplicated" pills is only 30% as effective as the real pills, that's 30% effectiveness on a pill that can cure cancer, fix broken bone, and even cure incurable anomalous diseases. As far as I'm concern that's a big win, not as big as if it were 100% effectiveness but still big.

@@unoriginal2552 well... if we assume the pill's effect is additive, then yes it be 90%. but if we assume by 30% they mean that 30% of the time the pill heals perfectly (like the 100% pill) while 70% of the time it does nothing, then eating 3 pills would result in around a 65% chance of healing you. if you want to reach a 90+% chance to heal you, you need at least 7 pills.

Yeah I'm not really sure why they downplay it so much. A 30% effective cure is still INSANELY good for some rarer or anomalous diseases and considering how freaking bad some operations go can be the difference between total failure and success at a cost. Let's say, for example, the Sarkics are feeling rowdy again. If I give my MTFs each 3 pills of, presumably, SCP-500-1 they might be able to survive a botched encounter long enough to send word back of what they learned.

Honestly SCP-6001 may be one of my favorites, it gave us quite a bit of information about some other SCP’s like the eternal chair, SCP-1000, 682, and 173. If you take it at it’s word it would make sense why 682 is unkillable, only members of its own species can kill each other so the key difference could easily be that in our reality 682 had an encounter that made it hate all forms of life, including its own species. That would explain why the foundation never found other 682s as well as why it seems to be more rotting and decrepit than its SCP-6001 counterparts, it fought and killed its species resulting in irreversible damage.

I'm sorry, this may make me sound like an ass. where does it say that the Panacea has anything infinite about it and where did you even get that from? From what's shown in the video it's a bunch of pills able to cure absolutely anything they tried it on, but the thing about it it's that it's limited by how many there are. still that could've just been the way you expressed it and I'm getting it wrong. anyways, the original ones are 100% effective, but that doesn't mean it's infinite. you could say there's infinite things it could cure but the thing is that a "cure" has a way it works and that's probably what they meant. by effectiveness it could've been either how long it takes for it's full effect or how much it can actually fight an illness. for an example, it could be that the pills could cure stage 4 cancer but slower than the originals or just cure stage 1 with a lot of difficulty. but that's my interpretation so, take it as you will. This scp would have people trampling over each other like toy collectors toward a limited edition figure. Considering the fact this thing is limited, and can even save people from some of the worst diseases and infections SCP has to offer, it's no wonder the Foundation contains it for extreme emergencies. As unfortunate as it is that 038 couldn't match the effectiveness of 500, it does get the point across that "once it's gone, it's gone forever. And it ain't coming back." So, while we can hope they crack the code, it isn't exactly a fruitful endeavor. Also, that one D-Class and his hangover.....probably should've asked for Aspirin or Tylenol there, bud

Here's the thing, though, if 038's pill clones are 30% effective, wouldn't you just have to give them more than one pill for it to work, or do the pills only work once? Did they not try giving more than one pill to see if that's how it has to be done, or did they just stop at one pill and say "oh well, back to the drawing board?" If you can clone the pills an unlimited number of times and taking more than one of them works to clear things up you've got an unlimited supply.

Possible solution: Why not use the amulet and strictly limit exposure time? It seems like it amplified all properties. It increases the healing time but dramatically amplifies negative body responses to prolonged exposure to something. So just limit the dose like you would for any medication, right?

I believe the reason the duplicate pills from scp 038 were only 30% effective has a very simple explanation. Although anomalous the tree still needs adequate water fertilizer sunlight etc in order to produce especially if dealing with the complexity of scp 500. They just need to super boost the tree with proper nutrition before trying the experiment again.

Honestly, a 30% effective version of a 100% effective medicine is still pretty good, especially if it's as easily replicated as "touch pill to tree". It's not 100%, sure, but with very few, if any, side effects, and literally growing on trees, a 30% chance to cure someone that might have a couple months left, is nothing short of a light in the black.
