Nah. Not connected. It clicks a bit, like those tricky puzzle pieces, but no. 049 doesn't cure everyone, only people with the pestilence. This IT entity is inside the human psychosis and is the cause of what makes humans 'human'. Anyone that feels pain, feels emotions and has the qualities we call 'having a soul' has IT in their subconscious. So this means that almost everyone, except those we consider 'monsters in human skin' like serial killers, have the entity inside them. Unless the original data on 049 gets changed to fit 5000's lore, it won't connect.

My theory: The Foundation was complicit in allowing Pietro to complete his mission, because they acknowledged that resetting the world was another way to cleanse humanity of It (or, as It is called in my murder mystery notes, the Disgusting Secret). That's why they refrained from initiating a class XK when plenty of the SCPs under their custody were amply capable of it. That's why they used SCP-1290 to attack Ganzir when by Pietro's own reasoning conventional missile propulsion would have been more effective. And SOMEONE had to entrust Pietro with SCP-055 during those three months. As for It, my theory is that It is harmless as long as it goes unknown. The Foundation saw that the Disgusting Secret was a Keter-class anomaly, impossible to reliably contain once discovered, and PNEUMA opened Pandora's Box. Knowing this, the Foundation marched forth as a force of chaos, fear, and death, keeping humanity too confused, panicked, and in some cases dead to see the Disgusting Secret staring them right in the face. That's why they went public, when they could easily have achieved their goal from the shadows. That's why the O5 Council blundered and caused mass insurgence among their staff - they wanted to avoid telling the staff the Disgusting Secret, but as they would find in the three days after the new orders were sent out, there was simply no other way to make them complicit in the Council's omnicidal intentions. This also is a critical reason why SCP-055 was so important to thwarting It - SCP-055's specialty is collapsing information. Not only was it a key combo piece with SCP-579, its anti-memetic properties also kept Pietro's mind perfectly insulated from the horrible force that is the Disgusting Secret.

I really like that theory! Especially since if I remember correctly, Pandora's Box dealt in a very similar psychological thing, being hatred, fear, etc. and only having Hope to counteract all the negative emotions released. So evidently, whatever filled the role of Hope in the Second Pandora's Box was deemed not worth it. That also kind of makes sense with the Foundation agent saying they're not *supposed* to feel pain. If Pandora's Box being opened released Pain into the psychosphere, then yeah, the 'default' would lack that, and it'd technically be considered an abnormality.

my thought is that *IT* is a creature that has two consciousness - both of them are powerful. One wants to make everything happy and nice, while the other wants to torture all living things and destroy all existence. I think that the Scarlet King resides in this half. The Foundation found out about this and didn't know about the better half, so they started mercifully and quickly exterminating humanity in order to make it quick and painless to all. The stone hearts is so that the remaining exterminators cannot be tortured, so *IT* has no choice but to let them live or kill them. But, the half of *IT* that is good saw this and didn't want the extermination to happen. So, *IT* changed reality so SCP 5000 existed - the perfect tool to help someone restart the universe. *IT* also made SCP 055 and SCP 579, then let reality fold itself out. The Foundation was trying to kill the bad half of IT, and I think that IT resides in all alive beings. So, *IT* caused the entire universe to be rewinded - at the cost of Pietro Wilson's life in that reality. This is also why the Foundation made those statues - to quickly exterminate humanity as well as protect SCP 579 from getting SCP 055 since they knew that's what *IT* wanted. But, it was the good half, not the bad half. I think that *IT*, just like SCP 3700, will eventually lose to the bad half, but until then, the good half will try its best to save reality while either SCP 999 destroys all of the evil in the world (and possible weakening/killing the bad half of *IT*), and/or the Foundation finds a way to destroy the bad half of *IT*. Now, this explanation isn't 100% perfect, as it doesn't explain a few things in the SCP universe, but seriously, the entire SCP universe can't be explained easily, so just branch off of it. Here's what I think: IT is not an entity that plots some sort of horror, it's a MEMETIC THREAT. It's power is so severe that it can even overpower a person trained to resist memetics, such as a member of the O5 council. The memetic effect is that it convinces people that they must abandon all empathy and pain and destroy humanity under the guise of some sort of creature having some sort of horrible plans to do something even worse. I didn't think he reset the dimension after reaching scp 579, I thought it was a bootstrap paradox. He went back in time, instigating what had already happened all over again, creating an infinite loop. The main evidence behind this is him recalling at the beginning where scp 5000 originally came from, it suddenly appeared in scp 579's test chamber inexplicably just as he does later, or earlier, depending how you look at it. But hey I never read the story just watched the videos so I shouldn't talk ig.

It's possible that Pietro Wilson may be the greatest villain. Depending on what the 05 Council and the Ethics Committee saw, which we'll never know, they may have been in the right. If the Ethics Committee saw genocide as the moral of the two choices, then the possible plan of the Entity might have meant doom for the Multiverse or worse.

Maybe, but we should consider that scp foundation simply found out about IT way too soon and they didn’t have the means to stop IT except for mass genocide of the human race, what Pietro might have done was buy some time before they might unintentionally find an alternative way of stopping IT, and once the day they find out about IT eventually arrives they might find a way to stop IT.

Maybe, maybe not. Keep in mind that one of the few things we know is that the Entity is that it's the source for all that makes up our Humanity. This implies we were meant to be more like Vulcans in that universe. For all we know Pietro was merely holding off the inevitable.

There is one hypothesis that explained "It" in SCP-5000 was the human soul. This hypothesis actually makes much since. The soul is something almost all people believe in (hence it's similarity to an item or concept that fits to a group conscience category). Also, it has been said that without a soul, one dose not feel pain whether it is physical, emotional, or spiritual.

Pietro caused the BAD ending. He caused IT to stay in the human psychosphere. And it's connected to another SCP story, one in which the 0-5 reincarnated one of the dead 0-5 members, and they fouund out that all humans essentially go to hell. After death is nothing but a esoteric dreamlike torture for eternity, probably caused by IT. That's a connection I've read, and it makes so much sense. The SCP Foundation almost saved everyone from an eternity in hell, but Pietro stopped them due to the influence of IT.
