They stuck him in a box alone for years just because of how he looks, yet when given a chance to show his true colors we learned that SCP 5031 was (in fact) NOT just another murder monster. 5031 is a plain message for other SCP readers and writers and even manages to tell a great story too. Definately one of the must read SCP (er... must watch?) IMO.

It's also worth noting that it's growth resembles that of a child's. There have been unfortunate experiments where children have been intentionally raised to be "feral" including not teaching them a language, and it's initial behavior bares similarity to that state, and it's growth after being educated and raised normally resembles such children as well. It was never really a monster, it just needed a chance to develop. Apparently the author of this story was someone who had studied child psychology and they intentionally used that knowledge.
