Best way to describe the different Object Classes in a lil' bit more of a descriptive way I've heard so far is: Safe, you're able to put the SCP in a box, lock the box and forget about it. It doesn't matter how insanely destructive or overpowered the SCP is, as long as you're able to just put it somewhere safe and leave it alone. Euclid, You put the SCP in a box, lock the box and now have to actively maintain the box in order to contain the SCP. And finally Keter, You put the SCP in a box, lock it and now either it's trying to break out OR something/someone is actively trying to break into the box. And of course one of the special classes in Archon which is just: You put the SCP in a box, the box is now on fire, you're on fire and the world is upside down. lmao

Personally, I would say Euclid is you put it in a box, the box disappears, and you don't know why or how. However, that's going pretty deep with some objects, and your explanation is better for beginners.

Oh that is close to the Locked Box Test on the wiki What is the Locked Box Test? The Locked Box Test is an informal guideline used to determine an object's most appropriate Object Class. It goes like this: If you lock it in a box, leave it alone, and nothing bad will happen, then it's probably Safe. If you lock it in a box, leave it alone, and you're not entirely sure what will happen, then it's probably Euclid. If you lock it in a box, leave it alone, and it easily escapes, then it's probably Keter. If it is the box, then it's probably Thaumiel. Extending the analogy to other Object Classes: If it used to need a box, but no longer does, it's Neutralized. If this is because of a deliberate decision by the Foundation, it was probably Decomissioned. If it turns out it never needed a box in the first place, it's probably Explained. If you can't fit it in a box and it's about to end the world, then it's probably Apollyon. If you could have locked it in a box but chose not to, then it's probably Archon. If you can't fit it in a box but that's not a big deal, then it's probably Ticonderoga. If you're not sure what box to put it in yet, it's probably Pending. Note that as a special consideration, something that is autonomous, alive, and/or sapient is almost always at least Euclid-class. That is, if you lock a living thing in a box and forget about it, it will eventually suffocate or starve to death, and that's not a good outcome. Something that is intelligent could also end up being smart enough to outwit its containment procedures and/or stop cooperating with the Foundation's attempts to contain it, making it more dangerous than it otherwise might be.

@@OverTheTaco. Yeah i always just normally label most humanoid or sapient beings as being Euclid, unless it contains some super power that makes it hard to contain (escapes easily) or is destructive (often destroys it's containment, willingly or otherwise). For example, a being that can teleport, but is otherwise friendly would be labeled Keter simply because it's near impossible to contain.

First of all, to my awareness ALL SCPs are either original creations, inspired by existing ideas, or deliberate "tributes" to existing fiction or IRL things. There's a deerskull that mind controls you into wearing it and turning you into a kind of wendigo, for instance. Almost anything that isn't something normal in real life could be an SCP. And to clarify, Control as a videogame is vaguely inspired by SCP in flavor if nothing else.

I've heard a couple different SCP-001s but the angel guarding Eden was one of them. I'm surprised the mythos of the Scarlet King wasn't mentioned as that's a pretty significant, over-arching storyline of the scp foundation. Especially since he had come into contact with SCP-001 the angel at one point in time. The scarlet king is a huge apocalyptic event that the SCP foundation actively tries to prevent. In one canon SCP-682 "The indestructible lizard" was a pet of the Scarlet King. The other big SCP-001 i know of is "When day breaks."

@camellia_vt Don't remember the numbers off the top of my head, but the classics of The Sculpture, The Shy Guy, The Plague Doctor and The Old Man are great introductory ones. Also, runners up for the classics is the Infinite Ikea and Builder Bear. More great modern ones are the Yule Man, Butcher's Chariot and Field Trip (You do not recognize the bodies in the water). And if you want something to make you feel all sorts of emotions, do Where the Dragons Went and Yet Another Murder Monster. Also, look up Jack Bright. He's a scientist in the foundation that has such a penchant for screwing with people that there is an entire list of hundreds of things the Foundation has disallowed Dr. Bright from doing. It's pretty funny.

To info dump on some more stuff, since this video is a) a little old at this point and b) doesn't cover everything I believe is important. At this point, we're on to Series 9 (SCP 8000-8999), with the contest for the 8000 spot concluding around a month ago. Every x000 spot gets assigned through a big themed contest, where people submit their entries, which are then voted on, with the number one voted entry becoming the x000. The themes tend to be pretty open to not constrain creativity, such as the recent 8000 contest only working under the theme "Fantasy" ans still delivering some truly fantastic works (SCP-8000, SCP-8001,...) Regarding moderation of SCP posts, the only automated thing that happens is that every article which is rated -10 (every reader can leave either a +1 or -1 as a rating) get deleted after 24 hours. Ususally, it's expected that anyone who writes an actual article contribute elsewhere first (he mentioned the collaboratie pages in the vieo, or small Tales) and get the approval of at least two other writers on their SCP before posting it. A lot of people workshop their SCPs for months ahead of time, gathering feedback on the forums or discords in between. For copyright, pretty much the entire wiki operates under Creative Commons, specifically CC BY-SA, which allows distributing it freely, as long as you explicitly mention the original author, title and the license, as well as changing/adapting the work, as long as your new work also exists under CC BY-SA. Essentially, you can make content from SCPs freely, as long as proper credit is given, and it remains in Creative Commons. And, since you asked about the history of SCP, in short, it started on /x/ on 4Chan, the creepypasta board, as just a one off post using an early form of the SCP format (this post is still, although heavily edited, around, as SCP-173), and it just kinda caught on from there. Eventually, they moved to their own site and, through a bunch of drama, rearding copyright, some early admins being horrible people, other interpersonal stuff, we ended up with the modern SCP wiki. And lastly, if you're looking for stuff on KZbin to react to, imo, I'd stay away from the more animation-heavy channels, those tend to be a bit controversial . For just realy solid SCP vids, personally, I'd recommend both TheVolgun, the guy that made this video, for really well voice-acted readings of SCPs, and The Exploring Series, who does stuff besides SCP as well, but also has very fun videos about specific SCps as well as videos about Groups of Interest (discussing their background and a few associated SCPs) or thematic collections of SCPs that would be too short to make solo videos about (for example "Beneficial SCPs", or "Video Game SCPs"). For some personal recommendations, maybe: "Exploring the SCP Foundation: SCP-7795 - Ð is for Ðirteen" by the Exploring Series, for an example of the foundation doing their best to be kind to someone in a cruel postion. "SCP-231: Special Personnel Requirements" by TheVolgun, for pretty much the exact opposite. "SCP-2316: Field Trip" by TheVolgun, for an absolute classic that's also connected to a pretty large Canon, although it works perfectly well on its own. "SCP-3008 : The Infinite IKEA" by TheVolgun, for a more narrative heavy entry, that is still regarded as an absolute classic for a reason. "Exploring the SCP Foundation: SCP-3333 - The Tower" by The Exploring Series, for some goo creepypasta vibes.

Control is directly influenced by SCP, I believe there's an interview where the devs directly say so, also nobody "owns" SCP, there's no trademark or private ownership, its under a Creative Commons Sharealike licence which means anyone can use it so long as credit is directly given, like the live action budget short movies on youtube etc, for example Netflix could make a multimillion dollar show or movie about it so long as credit is directly given in the first screen of credits

There's SCP: Secret Laboratory where it's a multiplayer PvP escape of groups like the D class, Scientists, security, MTF, CHAOS Insurgency, and SCPs. Of course there's the original game where you play as a D class trying to escape, SCP Containment Breach which has many spooky elements and curious elements which most it can kill you.

SCP-001 is a variety of SCPs and tales as the community didnt want a single story to define this particular anomaly.

4chan made the 1st SCP and it was 173, the sculpture. All others are descendants of that first post. The most infamous ones are 001, 035, 049, 096, 106, 3000, 3008, etc. But almost all of the first and second series are very interesting and there's lots of lesser known ones that are easily worth checking because of how interesting they are imo. Example, i like 087 and Mal0 (forgot entry number) as really creepy and good ones. As far as games go, Containment breach was the first game to really nail the vibe of the universe and is a major contributor to the entire forums popularity. That one is old but still worth playing. I think the best multiplayer or online SCP game is SCP SL and is pretty fun and still running.

SCPs r just one of those things that it’s very interesting and also very terrifying to think about. Cause like aside from the well known SCPs like SCP-173 (Peanut) SCP-049 (The Plague Doctor) and SCP-096 (Shy Guy), there’s a lot of really cool and interesting SCPs. SCP-4217 (Contain the Bismarck) which is the German Bismarck ship from WW2 but it’s basically a living creature that powers the entire ship. SCP-294 which is a coffee machine that can produce anything in liquid form. SCP-516 which is a Soviet T55 Main Battle Tank that has a sentient main cannon that decides what the person pulling the trigger can shoot at. SCP-5000 which is an end of the world scenario where the foundation turns on humanity and sends all SCPs to wipe out humanity. SCP-420-J which is literally a blunt. “Man das some a$$ shiz” SCP-073 and SCP-076 (Cain and Able) which is similar to the Cain and Able in the Bible in Genesis. Probably the only biblical story ik of cause of SCP, that and cause Avenged Sevenfold has a banger song based on Genesis and is where the band gets their name. And the one that creeps me out the most, SCP-001 (When Day Breaks) which is an end of the world scenario when the sun gets so hot everything organic melts when in sunlight and the only survivors r those who managed to be out of the sun’s rays. Forcing humanity to live in the shadows. But the remains of those who melted, their cells manage to reform into these gloppy zombie type creatures that can absorb anyone in itself and will literally use the voices of those u know to get u to come out into the sunlight to be with them and be absorbed into the glob they r.

Pretty much anything can be an scp as long as it’s considered anomalies. Scps can be scary, funny, sad, or even heartwarming. Here’s some examples Scary: scp 2718, “What Happens After” Anyone who knows about this phenomenon and excluded from the release of death. When their bodies die they can still feel everything happening to it as their body rots. Funny: scp 2006, “Too spooky” A shapeshifting creature that loves to scare humans, the only problem is he doesn’t know what is actually scary. He appears as a gaint gorilla in a space helmet and all staff are took to scream and appear scared when he very poorly attempts to frighten you. This has gone as far as them hiring actors to fulfill this role. He is supplied with very low quality “scary” movies for research for what is scary. The terrifying thing about this scp is that it is immortal and if it truely did discover what ppl are really afraid of their would be very little to stop it from creating mass panic, but alas he is a moron so he’s pretty easy to contain. Sad: scp 1504, Joe Schmo a plain and unremarkable looking Caucasian male that is unable to be harmed or killed. But that isn’t his true anomalous power. His true power, or curse is no matter what he does ever thing appears as normal and expected. He could punch you in the face and it would just seem that you had a nasty nose bleed, he could kill someone and it would appear as a freak accident etc. No one has ever actually heard what he was truely saying just whatever perceived conversation the other person was imagining he is seen but never heard. Heartwarming: scp 4999 “A person to watch over us” This is an scp that appears as a man in a suit often smoking a cigarette. He appear to ppl on the verge of death that have no one to stay by there side. He stays with said person often holding their hand or sharping a final smoke with them before they eventually pass away. Also there is an scp that is a furry dating app that stalks you so have fun with that 😂😂

4:28 The video is a bit outdated, by now ot goes up to 8999 (this number does not include Articles by foreign language branches though) 4:37 Two of them, but they're probably for now too complicated for someone new to the Universe: Tanhony's Proposal for SCP-001: "Dead Men" SCP-4485 "Such Black Light" 4:56 Actually the first one was SCP-173 (and the first couple of SCPs were created on 4chan). The numbers aren't necessarily filled completely in order, just roughly nowadays due to the existence of Series, so you can't just go ahead and create SCP-100000 now, because we're still far away from that Series. 5:40 That would be difficult, due to copyright. Stuff going onto the SCP wiki has to strictly be in compliance with the CC-BY-SA License. 6:21 It might just be :) 8:10 Yes, SCP-3008 is literally "A Perfectly Normal, Regular Old IKEA" 10:02 Yeah, to draw the Control parallels here (as Control was extremely directly inspired by SCP), Objects of Power would generally be Thaumiel SCPs. 10:45 I think that "did SCP justice" can't really be answered. What i do think is that Remedy did a fantastic job at creating their own thing inspired by SCP. 13:39 To elaborate: SCP-2317 is basically six articles in one, as you slowly go up the clearance levels and get toknow more and more about the actual anomaly, with multiple of the Articles outright lying to you to serve as decoys for the higher classified versions. 14:04 If SCP was real, my brain would probably melt right now because of a number of Infohazards. If it wouldn't, i'd wanna join one of the Groups of Interest, the "Manna Charitable Foundation" - an anomalous emergency relief and humanitarian aid organization. 16:33 While that's not the official explanation, a generally accepted factis that the D in D-Class stands for "disposable" 17:17 No. The theory of Memes is a few decades if not centuries old at this point iirc. It's the theory that while genes are responsible for the physical appearance of a population group sharing said gene, there's also a basically mental version of genes, that dictates how a population group thinks and approaches the world: The meme. The image-macros we nowadays know as "memes" are simply one very specific version of Memes. And in the scp universe, some Memes are anomalous and thus change your way of thinking (or other things) in an anomalous way. 17:59 Antimemes are also a thing in the real world: Information that by its nature coerces you to not spread it, such as a password or PIN. The anomalous ones just do this way more effectively. 19:04 That's not an SCP, but that's certainly anomalous and you could certainly write Containment Procedures for it, but due to it being part of an existing IP it likely wouldn't become an actual SCP. 20:04 That would make them antimemetic in nature, not an Infohazard :) 21:57 Not quite. It tends to be a level above Meta - basically Meta-Meta-fiction. 24:48 Well, the Internet's Rule 34 is a thing and not even the SCP Universe is immune to it. Though there is also some very NSFW shit in some actual SCPs. Some of them dealing in one way or another with sexual themes, but most actually NSFW SCPs are rather deeply psychological, gore-y or in other ways probably rather NSFL than NSFW. LetÄs just say that if you're on the SCP wiki and an article has an actual content warning you are getting yourself into something.... 26:36 Exactly. IIRC there is more than 40 by now. 27:27 SCP is under Creative Commons so that basically the Community as a whole owns everything (though normally the original author of an SCP is granted certain privileges by tradition. You can't just go on and rewrite someone elses article without asking them for permission first, but things like fixing broken links that are supposed to be working and fixing grammar or spelling errors unless they are intentional is generally fine. However other Authors or community members are free to do whatever they want involving the thing you created. So if you write an article about a Soda Bottle that never runs empty i couldn't go ahead and rewrite that article to have the soda bottle produce diamonds instead - but i could write my own article in which for example some rampaging killing machine is topped by drowning it in soda from your infinite soda bottle. Also for someone new to the SCP Universe i would recommend checking out The Exploring Series, as most other (credible) channels only do readings of the SCP Articles, but TES does a mix of Reading, Summary and Explanation - the last point being extremely helpful for someone new to the community.

Its so nice to see someone learning about the SCP Foundation for the first time. Its truly the nerdiest thing ever made. Nerdier than Warhammer 40k. Its amazing. If your looking for a good horror SCP I recommend SCP 3935 "This thing a quiet madness made" kzbin.info/www/bejne/rZbWmHZubbyXq6M Its one of my all time favorites. Its kind of a long one though but its good.

Your voice is way too loud compared to TheVolgun, like 2-3x louder. Makes this a difficult watch.
