Everyone talking about how SCP-096 can dimension hop, but no one finding it more interesting that SCP-507's dimension hopping might trigger automatically in response to life threatening conditions. I think that would explain a lot about why he never gets hopped to a place incapable of survival, like places made entirely of acid, and why he never gets seriously injured during any of his travels.

Not really... But there's definitely some truth to this, especially about 682. I mean, originally neither of those were particularly OP, just unexplained anomalies dangerous to regular humans. Then came power scaling kids and made 682 Outerversal and immune to erasure. 096 hasn't really changed much other than the fact his bones are indestructible and he's able to chase you even as a Skeleton. 096 was never glazed as much as 682, and even 682 can't chase someone across dimensions in an attempt to kill.

I hated the teleporting. I found it MUCH scarier if this thing followed you at normal speed, but always managed to find you no matter where you went. So if you moved to China from the US, 096 would still follow by physical means such as hiding on a plane or boat to get to you. Making it a relentless pursuer by physical limits would make the tension and horror 10000× better

So first, the narrative of the story implies much more that 096 is traveling dimensions, the thumbnail has a photo of 096 breaking through a dimension, and it opens up with "A lot of us wish we could travel dimensions." foreshadowing their chase that happens later on. SCP-507 also states "He had no idea the Shy Guy could travel dimensions." Next, the second time after 507 hops to a new dimension, getting out from all the bodies and notices 096 behind him crying, the narrator states "It's distress at finding itself in a new dimension mirrored Tommy's own." So let's assume this theory is true, if this 096 is from this dimension already, why would it "be distressed at finding itself in a new dimension" if it already came from there? It would already be there, so it wouldn't be a shocker to 096 to see it, further evidencing that 096 is dimension hopping rather than it being a different 096. Next, after this happens and 507 goes to the next dimension led by a different SCP Foundation, 507 tells the guards "I'm SCP-507, but that number might refer to someone different here!" This is implying from a narrative stand point that this verison of the foundation contains different anomalies than the one in the main reality of the SCP Foundation. This would mean that 507, as well as 096 wouldn't even exist in this dimension prior to these events to begin with, further proving my point. The 096 that appeared and killed the guards couldn't have been a different Shy Guy if he didn't exist in that dimension. He would of had to have traveled there himself. And lastly the video ends with 096 running after 507, with the narrator saying "It would be much better for their chase to go on" and this scene pretty much implies both 507 and 096 are hopping dimensions in 096's chase. So yeah the theory can be debunked, as the narrative is much more implying that 096 is actually travelling dimensions, rather than it being different versions of him.

I think a better alternative, would've been for other 096's from different universe's, hunting him each time he warped. It'd make sense since thier faces should look similar. That way we wouldn't get that b.s teleportation.

This wouldn't work seeing 096 can be triggered by a split frame that is too short for your brain to recognize. This is also why scramble failed.

I mean you can trigger him without even knowing, off of the smallest pixel on a crappy photo. However I don't think there is any decent info about him still being triggered if you lose the info of what you saw in your memory. Is he triggered by you knowing what he looks like or is he triggered by you seeing what he looks like? It's a neat difference to explore but it's probably ignored cause it would be an easy out story telling wise and would diminish the danger. So we should probably just assume it'll kill you either way.

I don't think the 096 he's coming into contact with is the same one, but each universes own scp096. It's psychic ability can cross dimensions but not its physical body.

I get complaints about 096 teleporting between dimensions being OP and not realistic... but he already breaks reality by surviving and being able to do what he does. He can jump to the moon and survive the depths of the ocean. I'm pretty sure if you put someone into a blackhole he'd break space time and relativity to chase someone into it to kill them. I'm not surprised he'd force himself to hop dimensions somehow. Only unrealistic part is how little time it takes. I'd imagine it'd be at least a few hours or more for the first time before he got used to the practice. 096 and 682 are both SUPER adaptable. 682 adapts to survive, 096 adapts to kill his target no matter what. If someone was intangible and couldn't be touched, 096 would somehow vibrate himself into the frequency that could touch that person or something else.

Then 096 would stalemate like he did with 682 from then on. Doomsday and 682 for all the vs matches... probably would get along, at least until they were the only two lifeforms left.

Unfortunately, the community wants the SCPs to be more watered down and "realistic" but... I think they forgot they are dealing with anomalies here. 096 and 682 especially are kind of SCPs meant to be no limits fallacies and will break the laws of physics if they have to in order to achieve what they are designed to do. For 096, that is killing his targets, and for 682, that is surviving everything. Anything that is required to meet those end goals, they will do it.

Then alternate one should take much longer to reach him as it is moving towards him, it would be seen by various humans and it would have to chase them down too. Imagine if Tommy appeared in Texas and shy guy of that dimension was locked up in... North Dakota. Now look at all towns and villages along the way etc...What you say is smarter but video implies that it is teleporting. Video about shy guy chasing a devil also implied that it basically can dimension hop...for some reason.

rather than following him, its entirely possible that its just whatever that universes equivalent of 096 is tracking him down and chasing him. makes a bit more sense because if hes seen one of their faces, hes seen them all and has a memory of it, so its like constantly looking at a picture.
