Actually, if the cause of SCP-001 is the photons, the entire universe would eventually be infected as the photons are emitted from the Sun. It would just take time--so any life on Proxima Centauri would be turned to mush in around 4 years and the entire galaxy would be dead after 75k years.

​@@Kakaragi Honestly, the undeads in the story have become more of a secondary or even tertiary thematic pieces. Nowadays it is mainly about painting how good and evil humans can be, which is neat, but that can be achieved with any apocalyptic setting (and good writing). Meanwhile here the core story tends to revolve about how to avoid not becoming one of the "whole". There is an alien intelligence at work, and it isn't a brainless being unable to plan and act. The stakes are different at this point. The walking dead is about people dealing with the apocalypse and then how to move on after it is effectively over for the most part. This apocalypse feels inevitable and is more about how long folk are able to postpone the end rather than live through it.

Trapped on Earth with an army of flesh monsters is bad enough, at least there's a small chance to survive a lifetime. But being trapped on the Moon with next to no protection from the Sun and with the most direct contact is complete hell. Also, I realize it's not likely but will be a part from the Sun's POV since it seems to have some form of sentience? Heart and Sol did give one possible reason as to why Day Broke but there's not much else.

I remember the SCP which is the space lady that warns earth of threats, referred to the sun as her brother, and her brother I guess turned on humanity in one of these Day Breaks stories. There is a brief moment before the change where she turns towards the sun, appears to have a conversation with it and her expressions turn to horror just before it all happens. I cant recall if she warned Earth seconds before or not but it wouldn't of mattered for survival.

anyone on the surface that knew of these bases would lead the flesh too it like the others said, Depending on how much it can learn from sea life's memories, it would probably find the base sooner. Staff waves at dolphin through window *Dolphin remembers this* *Gets converted* roll credits. All the microscopic life coalescing would be the truly horrifying part of the sea in this verse. The plankton and Algae that's converted would turn the seas into a soup. The only saving grace of being down that far is the pressure and darkness, but the biomass will figure out how to get past that pretty quick

I wonder if the distance you are from the sun affects the speed or effectiveness of the conversation process into the flesh. Like imagine your on Mercury and you're exposed to the sunlight and you're instantly converted with no need for the slow melting, while if you're on Neptune the conversation is extremely slow because of how far it is for the sun and people could get half converted and have to resist to temptation of the converted sides want to go into the sunlight

Wasn't it stated that "anywhere under the hateful glare of the sun" is compromised - this isn't just anywhere on Earth or around its orbitals, it means EVERYWHERE. Even a distant galaxy billions of light years away, once the Suns light (however miniscule) reaches it, means that galaxy becomes compromised. Thus, conversion is equal and unforgiving.

Firstly, a very, very good chapter, brutal and cathartic, really from the writing, the quality of the drawing and the narration, it was a wonderful experience that gave me many chills. An SCP that would be great to hopefully appear in the future would be SCP-2273: Major Alexei Belitrov. The reason is that he was fighting a nuclear war in his world, in very risky situations and his military experience and personality in addition to the capabilities of his suit, then it would be a very active and beneficial anomaly.

What its thoughts are like, both independently, and thoughts merged with others who have been converted by the light. An interesting story. I'm definitely interested in seeing what other GOCs are doing. I know MC&D is able to survive after death. Not to mention the Darke vs. Light imagery. Or the GOC, Manna Charitable Foundation, or the most powerful of all GOCs Wondertainment.

I have a question: hundreds of thousands or millions of years later when the light from the sun reaches other planets with life, will these planets also experience SCP-001? That would be terrifying, because if there is a civilization there they would have no way of knowing what the f7ck is causing this and how to protect themselves.

this story made me realize that scp-001 would be a great fanfiction scenario particularly as a crossover with halo imagine a ship like the spirt of fire from halo wars finding earth only to see not only is it not their earth but the sun is now a deadly anomaly i imagine the reaction of them seeing the scp foundation would be legendary as well sadly i doubt such a story would ever be made

I find it interesting the way the flesh monsters talked (I’m not calling them by their official designation) they usually at least until now just wait or their attempts at convincing others usually involves calling out to them for however long they are hiding but they actually seemed to sound sane and reasonable and coherent which they really haven’t been shown really interested or even capable of human like conversation

I would love to see what Abel‘s brother Cain is doing in the WDB world SCP-073 reflex all damage done to it so theoretically although you can’t melt the sun since it’s not a physical object it’s made of plasma which is beyond liquid melting process would at least not work on him

One would hope that other foundation facilities would’ve received word from Earth about the cataclysm and been prepared for infiltrations in the future, if they haven’t already collapsed that is. Would love a story about the last lunar base blowing up their only ship to trap the flesh before nuking the base, one final act of defiance before the end.

What's so horrifying about this scp it won't even give you the mercy of dying, I'm not even sure which one is more horrifying, this scp or Dead Space Necromorphs, but then again, you can just die in Dead Space if you hack off your limbs after you get someone to blast your brains out.

I just realized that, what if radiation is the key to defeating SCP-001? Like they still have to get into spacesuits when they go out onto the moons surface, and we dont actually know what happened to the flesh at nuclear reactors/radioactive zones like Chernobyl Like, I get that the flesh as a whole are supernatural nightmares but we have seen that shotguns and heavy machineguns can rip these things apart and inflict significant damage while flamethrowers can dispatch these things incredibly easily. Not to mention after UnderLondon(?) was able to trigger a nuclear war, there was a story of a survivor traveling across a radioactive wasteland and they didnt encounter a single flesh monster, so maybe my theory is credible?
