Today we will be studying item number SCP-023: Black Shuck, Object Class: Euclid
SCP-023, also referred to as the Black Shuck, is a Euclid-class object under the SCP Foundation's containment. It is a canine-like figure that causes death in the lives of those who make eye contact with it.
If not contained in a setting that at least superficially resembles a "crossroads", SCP-023 will phase through walls to get to the nearest suitable location, incinerating all materials it passes through.

Its possible they 'redacted' the wrong part. The standard writing advice is to write it all and THEN figure out which bits you want to 'redact' or 'expunge', so its possible they were copy-pasting and made a small error.

I remember that a south-American legend has it that you can find 2 dogs called "Cadejos" (I think) whenever wandering about at late hours of the night and that the black one will try to harm while the white one will prevent it to do so. (It´s been a while since I heard it, feel free to correct me)

I'm guessing the thinking was, without eyes to lock gazes with, it could no longer "stare you to death." And the teeth were also to remove its primary weapons. Turns out nothing so prosaic was going to stop this doggo from performing its task.

Is there a canon reason why the foundation doesn't just try to kill or destroy anything dangerous? They seem to only reserve that for really dangerous Keters like 096 and 682

yes. their goal is to contain and protect rather than to destroy. That would be purview of the GOC. Part of it simply the fact that most anomalies can be rather difficult to kill. Another part being that the foundation generally holds that its far safer to simply try and contain anomalies as they are rather than try to disturb/destroy them and potentially risk making them more dangerous.

That’s what the Global Occult Coalition does in the SCP universe, the SCP foundation is more reserved for studying they anomalies i figured. Trying to destroy something just because it’s a little dangerous and you don’t understand it seems a little silly to me. In those type of scenario where to try to fix a problem that way without fully understanding it, you would likely make it worse. This is shown is displayed in bunch of SCP stories where safe SCPs are turned into something much more dangerous bc of that, for example scp 1609. Anyway the SCP foundation is more like a scientific research organisation anyway so I think they rather keep them alive

It'd just magically show up at the nearest crossroads. Of course, Lovecraft's Mythos is semi-canon for this setting, so the odds of the poor thing winding up in some abandoned Elder Thing tunnel complex are better than jumping to one of the few research bases big enough to have something that counts as a crossroads. Don't think your average shoggoth is going to be very impressed with some leftover bit of European folklore trying to stare it down, although I suppose it'd be rough on any passing albino penguins.
