Scram 411 or Himalayan? Which Royal Enfield should you buy? Comparing both motorcycles. Best bike? For the full review of each bike see links below.
I ride both bikes back to back. I discover which bike suits my current needs and which one I would buy. It’s difficult because I really do like them both.

For my money it’s the Himalayan all day, I happen to own one as well. I like the Scram, it’s a great bike… it’s just that I like having the panniers, the crash bars, the screen… My Himalayan goes off road and I use it for touring. Cheers 😎

Thanks. Royal Enfield have tweeked the fuelling with the throttle body on the Scram and applies to new Himalayans as well apparently. I like both as well. And the classic is great as well. I can't decide between the 3. But leaning towards the Scram. Cheers. 👍

The scram is a good choice. It feels loads quicker than the classic. I’m actually going out today doing a meteor / classic comparison which should be on KZbin next Sunday. But before you make your mind up the Hunter is coming. With a bit of luck I will be out on one soon.

I've traded my Tiger 800XRX for a Himalayan. The Tiger was comfortable and fast but just too big and heavy for the dire roads in rural North Essex. Even the trunk toads are so congested that you dont go much faster than 60mph. The Himalayan laughs at the bad surfaces and muck on the road but still makes me smile. Its like the old mini. You can ring its neck and use all the available power, or you can potter around with sweet torque. I've got a 70hp Thunderbird for cruising or taking the missus out on sunny days, but the Himalayan gets my vote for every day riding in the built up south of the country.

Ridden both, prefer the 21" front wheel on the himalayan, much nicer off road. The scram looks like someone put a himalayan thru a hot wash and it shrunk a bit.. love my himmi I do think the scram would be a better commuter but the himmi for camping trips

I like the Himalayan for the screen,Centre stand and rack. The Scram looks lower in terms of your feet being flatter on the ground. Before I got the Scram, I’d ask if I can fit the screen,Centre stand and rack for a top box. I am 5’8.
@GillyBikes

I think the seat height is pretty much the same on both. I’m 5”8 and can flat foot them both. I’m sure you can get screens for the scram. Both great bikes though.

1 UP just for recording conditions and effort + honest pov. On both (each) bikes there is one major design flaw. They don't have rear shock guard. It's mandatory to have that. Rear shock is dead in the water really soon, just out of dirt and water. At least some after market solution would be nice but there isn't any. Hard to install.

I've 20k on my Himmy now. I put a neoprene shock cover on from new. It simply velcros round the shock. I rarely wash the bike but recently stripped the back end to check and regrease all the bearings and pivots. The rear shock was still like new thanks to the cover.

I’m trying to make this decision now. I had a Himalayan in 2021 and I sold it because I am 435 miles from the closest dealership. I’ve regretted ever since. Fast forward to this season. I bought a Honda crf300 Rally…and I’m not impressed. Great bike but no character. So, I’m off to buy a Royal Enfield! I loved the Himi but, now that the Scram is available….I’m in a knot trying to pick one…lol! I’ll post an update once I decide!

Its really a simple choice...if you ride predominantly back roads ,some sealed, some gravel then the Himalayan is your Huckleberry . Mine is at home doing 70 and 80 on the gravel all day long. Fabulous ergonomiccs and what's that other big word ? Oh yeah, Geometry, it has great geometry . For me at 188cm tall, the only thing I'd like to change is the seat, it tends to push me foreward .

I love the Himalayan as a platform but unfortunately the ergonomics don't work for me. The low split seat means I'm pushed too far forward and my knees rub against the cutouts in the tank. If they just gave me a bench seat option I'd be sorted as I could scoot back an inch or two! I'm waiting on the announcement/specs of the 450 Himalayan and I'll pull the trigger on one of them or a KTM 390 Adventure next year. I really do favour the Enfield in terms of riding experience though, tuning for chuggy torque over revvy power makes it a lovely bike to potter about on.
@GillyBikes

I keep hearing the 450 himi is going to have 20hp more than the current model. That makes it a very interesting option. I might have to get one.
@Geshmaal
@Geshmaal Жыл бұрын
@@GillyBikes it might all be nonsense but an article I read about the 450 suggested it could have 45Nm of torque, up from the 411's 32Nm. With 40bhp that'd have peak power at around 6350rpm, still nice and low! For comparison the KTM 390 Adventure makes peak power at 9k rpm with 37Nm of torque. 450 is looking pretty chuggy!

I owned and toured the eastern half of the Trans-American Trail on a 650 Vee Strom. Compared to larger ADV bikes, the DL650 is considered "small". But the Himalayan is narrower and lighter - truly nimble. Like you mentioned, the Himalayan should be compared to the CRF300. The Scram should be compared to naked scramblers. No one should buy the Scram if they intend to add knobby tires, windscreen or touring luggage - just buy the Himalayan! But if you are an urban rider, the Scram may be the best choice for you.

Love them both but for me it has to the Himalayan still. I like the fact that you can customise the Himalayan with panniers, tool box etc apart from having the screen when it rains. I live in the country side so ride on small lanes which are not always smooth or well maintained and the bike just handles everything that it gets asked to do. The only thing I don't like is the weight! I'm not young any more at 70 so for me pushing it around is hard work. I just make sure you plan ahead to make manoeuvring easier. Enjoy the videos many thanks.

Thanks Andy. I really do like both bikes. I mainly do road riding so the scram suits me more but I am very tempted by the Himalayan. It might make me be a bit more adventurous. There's a 2022 model with 946 miles on the clock. £3999 which seems ok when I look on Autotrader. It's had services by the dealer selling it. It's about the same power as a Suzuki SP 370 I had in 1987 so a realistic bike to get back into biking on.

Hi there, Dave in France here, I bought a 2022 Himi 2 months and 2100 kms ago and am absolutely loving it. I bought it because : A. it's cheap ! 5200€ in France; B. It's light - 195 kgs fully fuelled, steers light; C. Not an experienced off-roader but she gives me the confidence to try and now I'm loving offroad; D. 102 mpg !! I kid you not that's what I'm getting from her, so in these days of expensive petrol costs she just shrugs it off; E. Mine is in Lake blue and I always look back as I leave her; F. Rides on and offroad brilliantly - not powerful but on smaller nagerey country roads she handles superbly. Don't let anyone tell you a 21" front wheel is no good for onroad. G. Accessories are very reasonably priced; H. The engine has opened up significantly so now after 2000kms, she revs better, smoother and generally feels like she's keen to go. Much better than when brand new. I. She has a centre stand so a piece of cake to do chain maintenance; NEGATIVES: 1. Rider comfort, specifically the seat. I have both std. and comfort seats and neither gives me a comfortable ride. I bought an air cushion which improves things slightly but more is required. So there you have my experience, I'm loving riding my Himi as she does everything I want and more.

That’s some impressive MPG. Wow. I really do like the Himalayan but nowhere near me to take bikes off road so it would be wasted on me. When the 450cc arrives I might look again. It’s supposed to have nearly double the horse power than the current one so I’m really looking forward to having a go on that.
