I just realized that Burton has both Lucky and Unlucky. Does that mean his luck evens out but he just magically looses those two modifier slots?

It could mean that he has good luck sometimes and bad luck sometimes.

Mechanics wise it's a bug or oversight. "lore" wise it's a bit like Lmaenters form 40k he's unlucky and gets in bad situations often, so often that he's lucky to still be alive.

Maybe he's got luck that works the opposite of how you expect. He loses an engine to a random potshot but the next day he gets riddled with bullets but doesn't even notice.

Stukas are very resilient and have a small profile from right behind. and... their rear gunners can only fire to the back at a slightly elevated angle so attack from the low 5 and 7 o clocks for more silhouette and no return fire.

I suggest that you not attack Stukas from above and behind. An attack from below and behind should be safer. Also, I suggest that you break away low, rather than a climbing break. A climbing break puts you at risk of the rear gunner.

This game reminds me of an old flash game called Steambirds. Turn based like this game, only in a fantasy setting and top down instead of 3D. This game could do with an orchestral soundtrack, would improve the experience imo. Looking forward to the next installment!

It'll be nice to see some more fighters in the future Hawker Hurricanes actually made up the majority of fighter command during the battle of Britain. They'd be harder to play though as they were slower and less manoverable than Spitfires. There were some rare types too that'd make things really interesting Westland whilwinds would be fun, they were the RAF's equivalent to the Bf110 and the only fighters in the RAF in 1940 with 20mm cannons. Trouble was their engines didn't work well at high altitude, which is something of a major issue for a fighter. I think a Whirlwind squadron could be fun as Hard mode! (Boulton Paul Defiants would be nightmare mode!)

Personal opinion you should have pitched up and rolled right at the beginning. It would've allowed you to to dive down on them from their 3 O'clock. Presenting them as a larger target, whilst keeping you away from their firing ark. After the first pass dive through and repeat from the other side if needed/possible.

I feel like you could stand to hold your fire until you're a bit closer. The spit has widely spaced guns and therefore needs to be close. Hurricanes and 109s have a better weapons layout and can take more liberties.

Remember that rear gunners like on the 110 and Stuka can't fire through the plane. Best rear approach is low 6. Also remember that maneuvering kills your air speed. Really the only time you want to cut speed is on a gun run or to under cut a chasing bogie. If you want to run, diving to low will mean you can not bail because the chute will not be able to deploy. Two tips: 1. Attack stukas from below, they always start going straight and in formation. 2. You can click on the final ghost image of your aircraft to precisely aim your guns and direction!

Just because they bail out does not mean they are safe. Especially over the channel. I know there are friendly ships below but a rescue is not certain. The pilot may be unfortunately lost in his chute upon hitting the water.

Love this game but at this stage in development Squadron Leader plays more as a simple challenge of see how long you can last before all of your pilots are killed. I couldn't even come close to getting through 30 days. I assume future updates or the career mode will provide occasional pilot replacements. Also, why attack unescorted stukas from the upper rear when you can just come at them from below where the tail gunner can't fire at you?

HI Wolfpack345. Attacking a Stuka from 6 o´clock high leaves you vulnerable to the rear gunners fire. If you attack them from 6 o´clock below, the rear gunner would have to shoot through his aircraft to get hits on you. This makes it impossible for him to get shots on you while you can spray them as long as you are staying below and behind the Stukas.

In case you run into Stukas again, remember that they can fire above, not below their aircraft. So approach from their low 6 o'clock

Stuka rear gunner only can only fire to top rear arc. Pulling up from behind and slows down is not the best idea. Instead dive down and swing to the side.
