I don't think the points are great - mainly speculation. And the point about the stumps - if Kohli runs, he's putting himself between the fielder and the stumps at the strikers end. The non-strikers end is the danger end in this case.

Unbelievable how much they defend Kohli here. Fine, Kohli didnt want the risky single. For the record, Kohli has taken way way way riskier singles than this one. Such as the one where he got Pant run out vs New Zealand. He still has to shout no to Jaiswal. He never did that. He just ball watched and turned around ignoring Jaiswals call.

the pitch looked flat before the late self-destruct...India could easily bat 2 sessions tmrw and finish closer to 400 than 300 - but Pant needs to keep the fireworks under wraps and bat for lunch because if India can get to lunch still 5 down then this game is still alive.
@abhishekdas3320Күн бұрын
It is pure miscommunication. But I think knowing that Cummins was in a dangerous position where he could easily target the striker's end, Jaiswal shouldn't have taken that risk for a quick single that too at the end of the over. But then again Kohli being the experienced one should have denied the call. Anyway Aussies are superior in fielding aspect. They are more fit and agile and very quick in reacting.

I doubt that Cummins would enforce the follow on if it is possible. Better to bat again, put on a couple of hundred, give the bowlers a rest, and then go at India for the last 5 ish sessions of the game when the pitch will likely give Lyon more to work with. That would be my plan if it were my choice.

One of the strangest aspects of modern cricket discussions is the harping on about seam bowlers' workload, fitness, injury etc. Supposedly they're all better "athletes" with modern training methods but they're all breaking down, Choosing one series at random in the 62/3 ashes in Oz both Statham and Trueman bowled 140 overs through the 4th test. I dont recall any whining.

Success has many fathers , failure has none. Perth victory Jaiswal 160, Bumrah bowling, Kohli 100 etc. Possibly India loses from here, and are there are no takers for the blame. People are so pissed with Kohl’s non performance for last couple of seasons , they don’t hesitate to make him the villain, one bit. This particular incident though, I felt that there was no single to begin with - if both had reacted optimally they could have made it by millimeters- if there was no direct hit. For optics though, kohli took a couple of steps -turned around and said no. Appears ugly. After all runouts happen, right , it happened because of misunderstanding. Subsequently though if he had hit an unbeaten century -all is forgotten. But the wretched form he is in -it won’t be. Critics had a field day.
@AkshayKumar-gp7lk16 сағат бұрын
Run out can happen- stop crucifying Kohli/ Jaiswal for bad judgement in a moment. Rohit- the captain has done most damage with his decisions- dropping Gill, moving himself up, playing 3 all rounders and then not trusting 2 of them to bowl, defensive fields, over bowling Siraj, giving new ball to Siraj over Akash. Rohit with his decisions almost made sure India has little chance of winning this game before a ball was bowled; he picked side to draw not to win.

Batsman always put fielders under pressure with quick singles. And Cummins throw and Carey position were way off. Kohli would have made it without any problem. But all cricket commentators just love to suck it up to Kohli . Kohli is way too selfish to take any risk when his wicket is on the line. He has done this on many occasions. Anyway all is not doom and gloom pant is still out there he will either go boom or bust.
