Love your string quilt. I really enjoy making them and it is so fun to go in my sewing room and just sew away without really trying to match colors or seams. I use parchment paper as my foundation and it works for me. So glad your surgery is over and hope you are feeling better each day

I love making strip quilts. I sew them on batting and backing and make them quilt as you go. Your blocks are very pretty!!!

Shannon I have found when you use steam with strips or other small pieces, the steam can make things wonky unless you put a wooden clapper on them as soon as you pick up your iron. I learned that you should not use steam when piecing blocks. Also I have also learned that when you get more bobbins for your machine it’s best to order the true brand for your machine because the cheaper China made ones can actually be a little different in size.

I bought "Patty Paper" (it's meant for putting between burgers at a butcher shop) they are about 5.5. I love them because a lot of my strings are remnants from charm squares after I have trimmed the pinked edge and cut off my 2.5 square. I also have Missouri stars spiderweb "wacky web" template and papers - that also uses shorter strings.

Hello Shannon I love the 4 string blocks put together. I have never made one but it is on my list to make. Right now I am making charity quilts for a shelter for abused women and a halfway house drug rehabilitation. Finishing quilts I started 10 or 15 years ago and going to donate them. It is so rewarding and makes my heart feel full. I had the lady surgery at 40 and now I am almost 68 so I can tell you I know what it is like. Glad you are doing well. Really love your videos. I have made quite a few if string quilts. Most go to a hospital in Africa. I use old sheets to be the foundation, so dont have to take paper off.

I really can’t understand the use of paper in quilting. If you need to use something why not a scrap of fabric or washed calico then you can leave it there for extra warmth or thickness.
