I have managed to avoid quilting for all of my 59 years, and now this striping thing has me eager to give it a try. 😐😏 I watch people shop at the thrift store. I watch people exercise and cook... I watch them crochet, sew doll clothes and collect dolls...., I watch them shear sheep, and groom dogs. I watch men build stick huts in the woods and build gabion walls and fences.. I watch housewives turn crap from dollar store into designer knockoffs... Now I'm watch you sort fabric scraps... I should have made that rhyme, but it might have taken time. I'll just sip my brandy and tell you that you're dandy. I will subscribe because I dig your vibe and the squares you put together look better than the weather.. happy New Year from snowy northern Nevada. 🤗💞💖😘

As I write, it’s June 2024. I have watched this video multiple times since it was first posted. Of course, Agnes’ quilt is now long finished so it was very fun to see it as a WIP again. And Norma! So beautiful seeing you with her again Kate. This may well be one of my favourite videos of yours.

I really love watching The Last Lonely House. I feel like possibly learning a new something that I’m also visiting and talking with a good friend. I loved today’s visit because this is my favorite type of quilt to make. This is how my Grandma Julia use to quilt with scraps of old clothes and scraps used from making and altering clothes. She never threw away a scrap! I love looking at a quilt I make and remember a piece of clothing I made for one of my children or grandchildren or even myself. I also use muslin squares to sew my strips or crumbs onto the way she did just like you did. Thank you for sharing your life with all of us quilting friends. 🥰

Right now she loves the tray with my sets of “Terry quilt” pieces ready to sew together (I assemble a bunch in layers separated by sheets of paper). It’s not a very big tray but quite cushy right now and she just sits there and looks out into the yard.🦋

Seeing you sorting to all made my sewing spark light up! It's time I a going to make my own clothing again. As I did when the kids were little, I sewed, crochet, and knitted all our clothes. I'm cuddled with one of our boys right now, while listening to your chat. ☺️ Their mommy here was taken to the hospital for a few nights for respiratory issues, and they are glad to have me back. They also like to help me stitch and make cards. Adult daughter, and her 11 yo niece, both crochet, and their kitties like to sit close when that's going on. Our other daughter also has a knittlig loom. I feel so happy when the girls, and our son in law (woodworking) and their son (clay sculptures) have creative endeavors going on. My husband and older daughter do photography and he is a woodworker, also.

Kate, this video, followed through the givaway of this String Quilt captured my creativity and enterprise! I am now on my second redition of this Scraps & String Piecing (since I had so many strips of both colorways left over), after beginning just four days ago! I suspect that by the time I've even begun to dent the scrap/string heaps (sorted) I will have made three to four Q to K size quilts for people on my list! I love this concept--and the two I'm powering through currently are beyond beautiful. Thank you so much for the instruction! (Also, love your family and Anna is just a dear!)

Thank you for the shout out. Everyone was happy to have you join us yesterday. I’ve always got a bin of string blocks going. I have a miter square blanket with 2.5” squares made from sock yarn that I’ve set aside for now. I love the process but the small needles, thin yarn, and small blocks aren’t calming my name right now. Some of my subscribers want to learn how to knit a miter square blanket so I bought some worsted weight yarn to start a new one. Bigger yarn and bigger squares so maybe I’ll get this one finished 😉 My cats agree with yours. Put something soft in a bin and they think I’ve made them a bed. 😆
