I didn't know they were calling birds either - that was nice to learn. Those felt ornaments are beautiful - I have them saved on my etsy favourites. I might treat myself in the new year and try and have them ready for next Christmas if I'm spared. Yours are truly lovely, Marion😍

Marion, I'm saying thank you, again, for all your wonderful videos. I pulled out red and green scraps, and even some Christmas prints that have been around for over 30 years, and whipped up some scrappy ornaments. Added lace and beads, and gifted them to family and friends. The grandkids love them ❤. I still tend to over think what I'm doing, but wanted to thank you for the inspiration. Peace, joy, love, safety, and good health... Sheila in California, USA ❤🎉

Writing from the future, I got inspired by your Advent garland to start making my own. I did crochet a few stars with yarn, but I thought it would be fun for mine to make the stars from a few different materials, like wood, metal scraps, maybe crocheted fabric like a rag rug style, and some scrappy fabric ones. Thank you for the excellent tutorial. I think cutting the blocks to fit their container, while also being a useful size for a variety of uses, is brilliant.

Love this! When I was a little girl age 3-9 my Mom gave me her scrap fabric. I was overly protected so I was 9 before I was allowed to sew. Thanks for recharging a memory ❤️

I cannot thank you enough for this video. I watched half of it and paused it. I have 3 hat boxes stacked on the dresser at the foot of my bed. I had gotten some more oretty boxes and spent the day dividing colors of fabric. About a year sgo , I had bought on fb market place someones mothers quilt scraps, so alot of single squares and alot of strips i just thought no good for anything but yo yos. They were all in baggies by size and color in thise 3 boxes. But when you said you divide scraps between nice pieces, strips and small and tiny pieces in a bag. you started me a mission of dividing my scrap fabric between 3 hat boxes in the 3 sizes you do, and its now 4 hours later! Lol. But so incredibly satifying. Because since i took up slow stitching it hadnt occured to me to do what youve done making those squares and its a marvelous idea! If i had already had a box of squares id have made my dil a table runner, a Bible cover and a Kindle case for my daughter and for mine! Ive now got days of productive sewing ahead! I am just so thankful for this idea! I enjoy all of your videos, you are so talented, so sweet, you have such a beautiful garden and home and we are so blessed that you share it all with us!

Great idea to make squares Marion. I recently found a bag of very interesting fabric scraps at the thrift store. I couldn't think of anything I wanted to make out of them but wanted to play. Pretty calling bird, the advent garland is filling up nicely. Last year I tried to make blocks from scraps the way you just shown, but as I use a lot of bright colors they became very intense. But your way of cutting them into squares and mixing them with solid’ish fabric just might work. Love the little scrappy embellished ornaments you made.
@marionsworld24 Жыл бұрын
By making it all into squares you can then mix and match them up when you come to use them. It keeps the scraps in some sort of order. Of course you still have to make something with them.... but it seems easier when you have an actual piece of fabric instead of a bundle of bits.

Thank you Marion! I keep meaning to ask you how you store and sort your thrifted fabric? Do you take the clothes apart? I have started thrifting to build up a stash of varied fabrics. I am taking the clothes apart and storing the odd pieces in a clear bag together because they are the unruly parts. Then I fold the other pieces and store them by fabric type. I just thought that you might have a better way and I was wondering what you consider small enough to put in a container for small pieces and if you discard the unruly pieces? Thank you so very much! I value your expertise! 💕Donna
@marionsworld243 ай бұрын
Hmm.. mostly I just keep things as they are because I don't know what they'll be used for. Maybe I'd need the hems or the seams... So I just have things folded up amongst the other fabric. Once I've cut into something though I quite often clean it all into pieces. It just depends..
