Loving the fusion funk music. DR B looks quite solid give the age. Wooden running boards and etching on the windows is pure class 😎🤙

Lovin the boogie van. Those mirrors are intertruck ones for lorries, Inter truck was a kinda euro car parts for commericals in the 70"s and early to mid 80"s...

Oh wow thank you for that info, I would have never have known that. Thanks, glad you are enjoying the van videos. I have another one going live tomorrow showing the inside

@@TheGentlemensMotorRacingTeam . You were talking about the port hole windows for the side of the van. How about the perspex/plastic windows that are in some industrial warehouse/ garage doors.There tinted and oh so shaggin wagon!!!!!!!!!!

Love the '60s - '70s Shaggin' Wagon/Sin Bin metal flake paint, but good luck trying to match it after the rust repairs. You may get lucky, but I'd anticipate doing a full respray so it doesn't come as too much of a shock if the touch-up doesn't work out as well as you'd hope. Looking forward to seeing how this project turns out. Cheers, mate. :-)
@TheGentlemensMotorRacingTeam4 жыл бұрын
Thank you, yep once I have completed all the repairs I plan on giving it a totally different colour paint job but still respecting the age and style. As you say it's going to be impossible to match it. I am glad you enjoyed the video

Were these the same vans like the one used in the A-Team? Although I think the US versions are badged as GMC? Nice to know that you are restoring this one.

Love this! I have an 83 Bedford cf campervan. Once owned by Stirling Moss. I love it but hate driving it. What engine could I put in it to make it a more pleasurable ride. Please don't murder me, I know it's an iconic vehicle! 🙂
@TheGentlemensMotorRacingTeam Жыл бұрын
wow thats a bit of motor racing history you have there :) - I am genuinely looking for an alternative engine for my Bedford. ovs a v8 would be fun but not very practical, I have thought about a modern turbo v6, I know some jags have them and as they are rear wheel drive it would be a good start. but yep I have the same issue as you - I want something that is reliable and easy to find parts for - let me know if you think of anything your self
@ClassicCarCave4 жыл бұрын
Kev, Just a thought but what about fitting the same engine as Trev did the in his bedford i think it was ford Ztec plus he can give you all the info to fit it. You would end up with something modern and plenty of spares. Cheers Dave

I had a custom lwb with camping interior and still miss it. Had 2.3 litre petrol and we fitted twin carbs that transformed it's performance. Such a shame I can't upload a photo.
@TheGentlemensMotorRacingTeam Жыл бұрын
A LWB would be cool. I keep thinking about twin carbs as ovs the Vauxhalls had then. Or now maybe even ITBs 🤓 but I just need it on the road for now. Glad you enjoyed the video
@glynmoore3730 Жыл бұрын
@@TheGentlemensMotorRacingTeam If you complete it with the stock 2.3 engine I really suggest you try fitting the twin Strombergs, it'll be a simple fix (if you can find some) and transforms the performance. I also had a 4 branch stainless steel exhaust fitted .... fantastic.

I always thought these vans were Like our same era gm vans . look close but way different. And ours had straight 6 and V8s in them.

They kind of look similar but as you say built by opal / vauxhall under GM for the euro market. Totally different but the same sort of vibe

The best way to remove the engine is to lift the body and roll out the front subframe. You could actually use that forklift to lift the front end. It only needs to be lifted little more than 1m to clear the front spoiler.
@TheGentlemensMotorRacingTeam4 жыл бұрын
Thanks, unfortunately the forklift belonged to the scrap yard and now the van is back home. But I am sure I will find a way

If you're looking for a dropped something and you still can't see it when you're down and ground level, I was taught to use a flashlight. Just keep the light skimming across the ground, and keep your eye somewhat higher...and the elongated shadow will give it away for you.

Stock tires are 195R14C, to keep the same diameter you want to go with 225/70R14. Wider than that you will need fender flares.
