Great video. Lots of shop work. Timely that you got through all the harvest before having major work to do. That combine is used but continues to get the job done. Your family and crew are awesome!!!!!

When you reinstall the vertical auger it’s actually timed with the horizontal unload auger. I don’t recall if they touch if they’re not timed but it won’t carry grain well. It’ll show the procedure in the service manual. Sorry if you mentioned it or knew that already. Cheers Andy!

I'd hate to think of the acres your machine has covered. With some TLC and new parts the old girl should be good to go another harvest season. Replaced the vertical auger, housing, and elbow on our IH 1460...not a cheap repair, but really pumped grain out when we were done. Great that you have the ability to do these upgrades/repairs yourselves. Labor at dealer shops is pretty pricey.

Andy I think that combine has served you well. I’m sure that harvesting the high moisture corn causes extra wear on the parts that are prone to wearing. I’m very impressed that you and you crew take on these big repairs. With the high cost of new machines it pays to keep the old ones running as long as mother Deere has the parts. Enjoy your videos very much. Happy Holidays to you and your family.

Haven't watched ya in a while Andy, but when I check back in with ya, ya never disappoint me on the misery you tackle. We had that same exact job done on our 9500 several years ago at Lakeland in Avon. After watching and seeing what you guys went through on this one...they earned their money. Back then (around 2010 ?) greedy HOG Deere listed that Charge-Housing for $2k....I'd hate to know what it goes for today. Back then we were around $8500 for complete rebuild of unload system. That included large horizontal and vertical augers, tank augers, steel weld-in liner kit, all new bearings, new right angle gear box at top transition, charge housing, and labor...I think they also did our shoe auger bearings and added 2nd set of wooden blocks to the inside bearing end of the shoe augers too...all in that price. Hope you guys have a Merry Christmas.

I agree completely and was just mentioning that point with a buddy. Looks like it just made it through harvest without letting go, nice to have a bit of luck every now and again. And a question about using sand, the sand seems to wear everything it touches really quickly and with the cost of parts being so high would it not be cheaper and easier on the equipment for you to use chopped straw for the bedding?
@joelmoody1569
@joelmoody1569 10 ай бұрын
Sand doesn't hold bacteria like straw or sawdust or wood shavings. So as the cows lie in the stalls their udders are lying in the part of the stall that may have manure and therefore that area is loaded with bacteria which in tern causes mastitis. Sand is also cooler and more comfortable for the cows.
