Hey I just came across your video and I will have to say that I love it. I subscribed to see more videos and I am going to go back to look at older videos. The fact that you learned something new from your scrap yard is cool. Most of them would not tell you that, so they could separate it and get the bigger money at their drop. Also want to say that I am glad to see you give Grace for your reward and gor for giving you a beautiful day to be out doing what you love. Stay safe and happy hunting for that precious scrap. DS

Time to buy some more plastic tubs. The 5 drivers gave me alot of aluminum, copper and wires. Plus the steel. I'm glad he brought it all over. He said next week he will bring some more.

And those old TV's,they have a ton of wires,plus a ton of copper on the picture tubes. And it's easy to take off. All those screws you just put in a coffee can or a tide pods container. It all adds up. Vacuum cleaners have a electric motor plus the cord. Everything needs to be torn apart. I take my wires, copper and brass once a year to the scrap yard. In 55 gallon trash cans. One can for each metal.

With my truck being a V-6,it dont pay to pick up steel. It dont pay down here in Jacksonville Florida. I pick up my stuff,take it home unload it and go back out till my garage is filled. Then I start to tear everything apart. Throwing the metal into the truck and filling my trash cans up with the good metals. Then going to the scrap yard for the few bucks for plain metal. But I strip everything clean of copper and wires and brass.

It's funny I've been telling people for years literally that phone wire/cords are worth more. I even have shown my invoices from my yard on video. People still doubt. Now there is proof on your video from the yard itself that it is worth more. It pays to separate "everything." Have a great New Year Paul! Stay safe and healthy. Take Care, Kerry.

Hey Kerry, great to hear from you. Yep my yard will consider all phone type wire as CAT5 pricing.

I believe in Reduce, reuse, recycle, in that order. IMO, best to recycle cords only if the appliance cannot be repaired well enough to put back into reasonably reliable service. Find a nice microwave with a cut cord. Replace the cord with one from a non-working fridge, Tests fully working then clean it up, use it, sell it, or give it to the needy.
@ajg.68393 жыл бұрын
Was just curious, and to each their own....but why not take the entire vacuum? I have taken motors out in addition to the cords. To each their own though! Happy Scrapping!!
@antman35254 жыл бұрын
In Melbourne, cords at my scrap yard go as copper %. Every day vacuum cleaner cords are 42%. A few weeks ago $2--$2.50kg. But no extras, meaning everything except wire is cut off. If I don't then your looking at less than a dollar a kg. Worthwhile to spend that extra few seconds to go to higher price. And the ends you cut off go into everyday pressings load.

@haroldtunich88093 жыл бұрын
Hey Paul when you are striping the solid wire instead of starting on the end to sepperat the wire and the sheath start in the middle you will get it striped in half the time. And on the stuff that just fits through put a little down pressure on the out side end so it won't catch on the lip, or cut the lip out a little. Good luck love your videos. a fan from Michigan.
