Hey Paul, that Singer sewing machine base is definitely worth quite a bit to the right person. It's not something that you can really find anywhere, anymore. It makes me very happy that you didn't just toss it out. 🙂

Hi Paul. Never commented before but I saw that you had only opened the drawers down the sides of the Singer machine. There is also a drawer across the front which is about 20" wide and it is either on a rocker bar or is a simple pull out. Sometimes this gets forgotten as people don't know it is there so look in there for interesting items. Keep well and regards from the UK.

The struggle is real, as my dad would have said after fitting the fridge in, "got the Bastard!". Well done, Paul. In my experience, if you would like $50.00 for the singer, put $80.00 Ono, that way theycan bargain you down for it. Just a thought. Im sure someone will love to restore it. Rest up, Paul, your a good man.

My husband is a mechanic. And a guy called him, last November. He said a friend of his recommended Bruce (my husband) to fix his heater in his truck. After all the normal checks to see why the heater wouldn't work, the answer was clear. Chipmunks had totally filled every hole and crevice with accords. Every vent, every hose, and even some under the seats. The owner of the truck, just used it on the farm, so it set for almost a year. The man ended up junking the old truck.

Hey, Paul. Some years ago I remember seeing at a flea market a number of Singer sewing machines bases that the seller had turned into tables. The iron base he had painted a shiny black but the cabinets were all replaced with beautifully made table tops. He explained to my mom that the cabinets were pretty much ruined but he had removed all the rust and old paint off of each base and had a variety of different wooden tops. Also the pedals on most worked pretty good as well. She bought one as a gift for my sister. Something to think about with that old Singer pedal base.

If you can't sell the sewing machine, give it to a sewing machine repairman. It is better than it ending up in the recycle. Old cast iron sewing machines are a piece of history. I have 2 so far and love them. Cabinet top is shot. A woodworker could make a base out of the inner part of the cabinet.

To quote Commonwealth Picker. "If in doubt. Part it out. Those remaining drawers would sell for at least $10 each. The sewing machine is not so often in it, so probably would go for $20 or more. The wrought iron legs are very popular to repurpose into some new work of art, so $15-$20. And...if there are any vintage sewing notions, lot them up for another $10-$15.
