Dear Gayle, this is becoming a very beautiful cover! Here in Switzerland I have never seen so pretty fabrics. It's a gorgeous idea to stitch fabricscraps together for a journalcover.

So beautiful!!!! I could watch and listen to you all day friend. Can't wait to see the finished project. I used to do embroidery I don't remember hardly any of it. I make yoyo's when I can't find anything else I want to do. Positive Healing Vibes and prayers for you and your family! Run pins into a bar of soap. It makes them work better my grandmother used to keep her pins in a bar of soap covered in fabric. Be safe💕🐞 Namaste 🥰

Gayle, as always, you just make me laugh and relax. As you were pinning the fabrics I began to get apprehensive that you’d poke your finger and then you yelled when you did. Being you, you were immediately concerned about bleeding on the fabric. I was right there with you because that was exactly how I would have reacted. I understand about those pins, too! Nothing worse than dull pins - unless it is dull scissors. 😉 Anyhow, now you’ve given me the courage to think about doing a slow stitch project. It looked like fun putting together the fabric collage and I know exactly which fabric I’ll use. I look forward to your videos because it is like a visit with a dear friend. I found myself talking to you when you were looking for the next fabric and then remembered it was taped. 😂😂😂 Maybe you need to do a Live so we can really complicate matters as we all weigh in on which lace to use and where to put it! Thanks for your daily dose of fun and learning.

Hi Gayle Sheryl here from New Zealand. Love watching your video. I'm always worried I have too many floral fabrics in a slowstitch project, thanks for showing me how to make it work. My Mum was a seamstress. She tried to teach me to sew but it wasn't until I left school to save money I took it up again. With anything crafty being left-handed, never helped 😒

Gayle, your new slow stitching cover and belly band are going to be stunning when done. I think it is so fun to mix up journal creations with all kinds of different fun mediums especially for covers and belly bands fabric flips and some different pockets. My grandmother and I used to save buttons by the jars full from wool clothing she used to make braided rugs from for the house. She has an entire cabinet dedicated to different buttons I don’t nearly have as many but they are so fun to use in so many ways. I hope you have a wonderful weekend it has been raining for two days so far and chilly here too. Stay warm and lots of hugs ❤

I am a old sew and sew as mom called me. Dritz does make good pins but you have to look for silk pins. They are very sharp and do bend very easily. I have also bought some pins that are like trying to shove a nail in fabric. Ripping out isn't so hard with machine stitches long as you break about every 4th stitch and then pull the thread side that hasn't been been broke. You then have all those tiny pieces of thread to pick up. Love this cover you are making. I use to do a lot of crazy quilting and it was very zen too.

So pretty, I’ve only done very small little tiny pieces of slow stitching and one spine cover, I need to try again. I love it when you said you lost your yo-yos, it reminds me of my friends mom who instead of saying she was losing her marbles, because she actually did have dementia, she would always say “I’m down to my last marble.” Now that’s my favorite saying.

33:31 If you ever have issues putting a pin through any fabric, carefully scrape the non pointy part of the pin along your scalp. As though you were going to scratch your head, but along the shank of the pin. It will go through a lot faster because of hair oil. Loving your process; very inspiring and makes me want to look through my fabric stash very shortly.

Hi Gayle! Gosh, these fabrics are just delicious! They will become gorgeous journal covers for sure! Not really sure "when" you are in the YT timewarp, but hoping this is the week you are visiting your daughters in Denver! The weather has been fabulous, the trees are showing off in all their glory, and the evenings are cool but comfortable enough to sit outdoors around a fire pit with yummy fall snacks. Springtime in the Rockies can't be beat, but autumn is a pretty close second! Hope you have a lovely visit, and safe travels to and from!

Good morning, Gayle! I'm back in the land of the lucid today after sleeping most of the last 36 hours. LOL The joys of fibromyalgia on top of the chemo. What a beautiful book cover!! My thoughts on your straight pins is not the brand but the type. Try quilting pins, they tend to be slimmer and sharper. My mom and sister are quilters and some of my earliest memories are of standing on my knees in a chair, leading over a quilting frame with family working on a quilt. Blessings on you and your family, stay safe and healthy and always grateful. Love ya!!!

Beautiful drool-worthy fabrics. You need a different type pin for that tight woven fabric. I prefer superfines because they will go through most fabrics, are intended for apparel fabric but glide through this type of cotton well also.
