I didn’t even know that IKEA had a ‘utility’ section! I live in Europe and haven’t really been to IKEA very often but I’ve just moved into a house where I will have a dedicated craft room (finally) and was happy to come across your vid. There is an IKEA about 30 minutes away where I hope to be spending a lot more time checking out your craft room organizing ideas. Thank you for sharing. 👏👏👏👏👏

I have the Ivar fold down table unit (without the extra side shelved units) in my craft room and it's incredible. It holds so much and I've had no issues with weight on it at all. I use my sewing machine on it and it holds a tonne of craft supplies. And in my tiny 9x6ft room, I needed something small but highly functional and adaptable. I'd highly recommend it to anyone. Lee x

This IKEA is in Woodbridge, Va. My favorite place to shop. I have so much IKEA in my home. My sewing table is 32 years old and still going strong. When we purchased our home in 1991, my ONE request was I had to have my own space for a sewing room. I have, over the years, been able to make it exactly to my vision. If I have a big project going, I don’t have to put everything away, I can just close the door. Happy IKEA shopping everyone.

I am at my local IKEA at least once a month and has never seen several of these items! I will have to look again! We use Ivar shelving in wide bedroom closets. Super sturdy. One comment about magnetic tool bars though! Use them a lot and your tools become so magnetized that small metal objects like sewing pins, little grommets, hooks/eyes and jewelry findings cling to them. This would seem like an advantage until that jump ring refuses to face the right direction in your pliers or sewing pins jump onto your scissors and stop them cutting, or if you don't notice in time, you close the scissors on them and damage the blade.

I know it's not a secret from 'ick-ee-uh' - but I found 3 used large white Alex units on casters at a studio closing for $25 each! I love those things. They're so EASY to roll around - and I didn't even have to assemble them! Old cardboard jewelry boxes make great divider trays in the drawers, and I also use cutlery drawer dividers. I store my 3" Distress ink pads on their sides in a money holder from an old Monopoly game at the front of one of the shallow Alex drawers. great video - tfs!

The tubs with the greens lids are amazing. They stack on top of eachother, so you can really optimize storage with them! I used them when I organized my pantry, it works great. Tip: I love labeling my tubs so I can find my stuff quick. But I hate the fight to remove the labels. So I started to use masking tape for labels. Easy to rip of, easy to write on, and easy to remove later. And it's cheap.

Those picture ledges are great for storing rubber stamps mounted on wood. Some of us still have lots of those we’re not yet willing to part with. The ledges are deep enough to contain double rows of stamps, so if you put the taller stamps behind the smaller stamps, you can easily see everything on the shelf. The spice racks would also work, but I’m not sure it’s as cost-efficient a solution as the ledges.

Find a friend or two or three who would do an overnight IKEA trip with you. Leave at o'dark thirty Sat morning, have breakfast on the road and get to the store just as it opens. Walk the *entire* store, every aisle, taking pictures & making notes in the catalogue you purchased as you entered the store. You're not buying anything on this Day #1... have lunch in the store --Swedish Meatballs, of course!-- and keep yourself well hydrated. Plan on leaving the store between 3:00 and 4 pm to check in to the moderately priced hotel you reserved nearby. Between the time you check-in to the hotel, and Sun morning store opening time, you've slept, had dinner, consulted your notes and whatever notes/measurements you brought from home and made decisions on what to buy. Go back to the store Sun morning, fill out the paperwork for what pieces you want to purchase, shanghai one or two hardy IKEA associates and let them fill your flatbed cart. I've never had anything but *sterling* service from those youngsters, especially when a $20 bill miraculously shows up at the beginning of the shopping trip. ;-) I suggest more than one vehicle if all are buying some furniture. Flat-pack pieces are notoriously heavy, and if you try putting six tall bookcases in the back of a station wagon, you might not get out of the parking lot! 🤣

I found out recently that Ikea has a pickup location about half an hour from my house. So instead of driving all the way to the store, I order online and pick it up from there. Of course, it's not as fun as exploring the store, but it does save me a lot of time (and money too !!). Though I do like the idea of doing an overnight girl's trip as suggested by another commenter.

I have several divided trays that fit in my Alex drawers, kitchen and desk.. I have several sizes and the older ones too. Three different whites and navy. Age does change things. Frames are awesome as well, trays, and bits and pieces of all kinds. Our one bathroom is all IKEA. Then other is partly IKEA and other stuff. I adore the lighted mirror/ medicine cabinet, Wow! Lots of storage as well. OH the bins…. I buy all kinds of bins. I think all of my bins are from IKEA. The knife magnetic bars in several areas in our house. Superb I love the market place is my happy place. I never go in with out $500. To spare.

I can see my cat loving those picture ledges! Up the curtains, along the ledges, over a few more and a giant leap onto the curtains again! They would be lovely for framed family photos but Oliver wouldn't see it that way. I haven't been to my nearest Ikea yet, or to any Ikea for that matter but larger things I would have delivered as I wouldn't get them in my car along with me, my wheelchair and Hearing Dog! I must go, it looks really lovely and only 45 minutes away here in UK, but I would need to keep a strong hold on my budget. I have metal garage shelving in my soon to be sewing room but I am considering the Ivar desk unit for the short wall, an Ikea drop leaf table and a Billy bookcase for my living room.

I ordered a two tier lazy susan from QVC. It was a free shipping and handling day. I'm using it on my craft/sewing etc. table to corral supplies and decorations. Thanks for the video!!😻👍🐈

I definitely have & use many Ikea items in my craft room - I have the Bror work bench with drawers which is mainly for my Cricut, a Trofast unit, & 2 different Billy bookcases. New to me from your video: the bars with various canvas hanging options. I’m in 🇨🇦, so not sure if we have those but I’ll check them out soon. Thanks for sharing!

Those were new to me too, so I think they must be a newer item.

I haven't been to IKEA in awhile and definitely need to do so! Sooo many ideas. Cute story-I was traveling with a sports team and we stayed across from an IKEA. Two Swedish players went to check it out and came back with Swedish Fish. They said "we don't have Swedish Fish in Sweden". :)

Great secrets, Elisa. I have a slim space behind the door of my craft room that I would like to utilize, so the next time I'm at IKEA, I'll be checking out those new wooden poles and slim display shelves. I hope you found some fun items for your craft room that you'll share on a future episode. =)

I use the pocket shoe organizers for behind doors. You can put so many things in them! Paint brushes, paint tubes, etc. In my last house, I had two large pantry doors in that tiny kitchen! AND, nothing fell out of them when the kids slammed the doors!

Thanks for the helpful information. I live in Toronto and our Ikea branches are very disorganized. Most products are not available on the shelves, and you don't know how to locate your needed item and there's no one to help you out and if there's anyone, they are too busy, tired and agitated. And sometimes. when shoppers search through things, they make them messy, dirty, misplaced and/or damaged and there's no one to put them back in the place. Hence, on weekends, if you visit our Ikea branches, it looks like visiting a town, immediately after tsunami.

I bought an IKEA drink caddy (SUNNERSTA Trolley) and paper machéd 17 drawers into it! 5 on the lower two levels, facing one side, and 2 at each end (taking up the space below the side drawers, due to the side bars* on the caddy ); on the top level, I have 2 stacked drawers at one end, with an open box that holds my active tools and rulers beside those; on that top level there's also a full-length drawer for long rulers and hammers, tucked underneath (*bar level).
