Scratch built shanty town terrain

Yeah, it looks a lot easier than trying to build complete box shapes from foam board, which is what I did for the one shanty shack I built. Let the corrugated panels do most of the work.

To save a step, you could mix paint into the glue-water before soaking the tissues in it. So they come pre-colored when you go to drape them over terrain pieces. Though this means the sheets will all be the same color (barring further painting, of course), unless you mix multiple different colored batches. That might not be a bad idea, though, if you build some shanties at one time, then add to them later. You'll then be able to tell which piece came from what batch, by the color of their fabric/plastic sheets. Unrelated: I'm wondering if one couldn't add some lengths of paper straws into the construction somehow. As if the builders incorporated scavenged pipes, perhaps as corner pieces or to support the roof. Or maybe attached to gutters, to collect "rain" water. (Although now we're in the area of adding accoutrements to the sides of buildings, like barrels or cardboard boxes made from folded cardstock).

I think straws would work fine but I'd be tempted to prime them first before attaching for a bit of sturdiness 🤔

The whole collection looks nice. The "tents" look a bit more like "stuff they've collected, and want to keep the rain off of". They're great, as that, and I wouldn't change them. Additional tents might need doing, but the small things are realistic, IMO

I think they're fine with the rest of the 'town' but they didn't come out as I'd originally thought. But yeah for random stuff used to keep the rain off they are fine
