Thanks for sharing this. I never knew that Scratch could work with a microbit until I saw your video

Great design. I like scratch and micro: bit, but it never occurred to me that they could be combined.

Can you add other sensors or motors similar to lego wedo? I'd love to be able to add a distance sensor and maybe a motor on/off/direction block. Is that possible?

thanks for the video. question: the microbit itself has blocks to program buttons etc why do we need to program microbit from scratch coding? is that to integrate programming of the scratch's sprite character with the microbit?
@SurfingScratcher4 жыл бұрын
I can't speak directly for the micro:bit/Scratch collaboration, but these could be potential reasons: Scratch has a large user base and serves as an entry point for people to start with micro:bit that uses existing knowledge. micro:bit can be used as a controller for a Scratch game. So yes, you would be able to control the sprite's actions. But yes, Makecode opens up the micro:bit to access more of its features.

@@SurfingScratcher thanks that make sense. I saw a project yesterday where someone used a microbit to create a running game in scratch. when microbit shakes the character runs (bit like ninetendo Wii). that I think is one of many benefits of the collaboration.

I need you to give me the link to buy the micro bit
@SurfingScratcher5 жыл бұрын
Hi Paramita, thanks for your comment and support! If you click on this kit and select a micro:bit to view, it should take you to the Amazon store that is in, or nearest to, your country. kit.com/surfingscratcher/bbc-micro-bit-kit Should that fail, head over to the BBC micro:bit website and they'll have a section where you can find a reseller in your location. Good luck 🤙

How does this work when you're linking a whole classroom full of computers with micro:bits? Do you have any experience with that?
@SurfingScratcher4 жыл бұрын
Hi Robin, The max I've linked in my learning context is around 4 in a class with students. The key aspect to student success is being able to read the name of the micro:bit and finding that name in the list inside the Scratch project. From my experience, 1 computer = 1 micro:bit is sure to work. From what I recall, you can only pair 1 micro:bit with 1 Scratch project, but that could have changed. Potentially, you could pair multiple micro:bits with the same project as that still follows the 1:1 rule. The difference is that they're linked with the same project. Though, I haven't tried this. You could experiment with incognito windows to have multiple Scratch accounts open on the same computer if that is a limiting resource. Eventually, I had the kids locating the microbits on their Scratch projects with students as young as Level 2 having success with this. Hope some of that information is helpful :)
