A lot of my favorite natural history illustrations are etchings. Sure, a different type of etching, but this approach looks like a fun way to imitate the old style. Not to mention that scratching away something is always fun.

This strikes me as very similar to how I was taught to use charcoal, by focusing on the eraser to produce the image from a dark page.

I have been getting acclimated to using more tools. I think I might be doing something wrong with the fiber brush because now it's a bit too soft. 🤔
