Hi from Korea! It still baffles me how this channel's subscription count is not in the millions. Easily the best golf tutorial channel on KZbin! Love the succinct and simple explanations! I also admire Adam for taking the time out of what I presume to be his very busy schedule to reply to all comments! Absolute Legend! Just one quick question. I find that there is a delay in my shoulder rotation after my hip rotation during my downswing, which makes me push/slice the ball on impact. Is it a weak core or is there a way to fix this? Many thanks!
@Scratchgolfacademy5 жыл бұрын
Aram, Thanks, and glad you like the channel. Regards your swing, there should be a momentary delay after the hips start forward and before the shoulders get going. My guess is you are nut decelerating both near impact, which would cause energy to transfer to the club, which would help club snap closed. Hope this helps. Best, Adam

Very good explanation about shallowing the club. I've been practicing shallowing for almost a year now and anytime anyone talks about it I want to know everyones take. All shallowing instructional videos have different way to demonstrate and explain how to get there. When I 1st started to shallow my club I thought it was such a complex swing. Hello Adam, When shallowing the club, is there any special care to be taken so to not spoil your swing plane?

John, Anything is certainly possible. As long as the shallowing is not too manipulated with the hands, but more of a reaction to good motion, you should be OK. Best, Adam

What about this approach? Thanks in advance!

Andreas, Not sure if we can do a search at the channel, but content (and there is a lot of it) at www.scratchgolfacademy.com is well organized. Excellent drills and suggestions. However, there is one consequence of the "shallowing out" that I hope you might address... I've previously worked on both shallowing out my downswing and working to 'come from the inside' (without getting 'stuck'). And just as your driver example was "a little off the heel", I suddenly had a serious bout of the dreaded Sh*nks! (even with short irons!) It was completely unconscious and I had to seriously work on getting my weight back and a variety of helpful drills, but ultimately only 'cured' them (meaning I was again able to swing without fear of clanging the hosel) by 'reverticalizing' my swing. I WANT a shallower swing, but until I can get there without risking the "horrors", I'm hesitant. Do you have any helpful suggestions? [To further explain... in a vertical swing path, the extra momentum of a full swing carries my clubhead downward (bigger divot, ala Parnevik) but I can compensate by ensuring I'm "through the ball" at the bottom; with a flatter swing, that extra momentum carries my clubhead slightly horizontal (across the ball) bringing the hosel into the ball. It feels weird to address the ball at the 'toe'... so, suggestions are welcome!]
@Scratchgolfacademy5 жыл бұрын
Hard to say without seeing you swing, but likely the club is getting stuck, causing hands to work away from you (towards ball) through contact. Not sure if this helps, but best of luck. Thanks, Adam

So why not take the club back on the same plane as the downswing? Having two swing planes would seem to over complicate things. 80 years old + 2 days playing off 11 and beat my age gross twice last week so am not a novice .
@Scratchgolfacademy5 жыл бұрын
Butch, Same plane works as shown by Rory in the video. It's very common for golfers to take club inside, usually resulting in a steep downswing. Best, Adam
@olafheinzel16525 жыл бұрын
I have a question about why the golfer cannot simply use a shallower backswing in the first place, rather then shallowing the club at the beginning of the downswing as you have demonstrated. (I am still a novice golfer, so I hope you don't mind if I ask a question that may be more obvious to experienced players.)
@Scratchgolfacademy5 жыл бұрын
Olaf, As Rory showed in the video, staying basically on one plane can be done. That said, most gofers go too flat early in the backswing, almost always influencing club to steepen coming down. Shallowing the club is pretty natural when the motion is athletic, baseball would be a good example. Hope this helps. Best, Adam
