Possibly PETA or any organization who thinks that no animal great or small should be kept in captivity. I do not espouse that notion. But in my experience, that's where the dislikes come from. As far as I'm concerned, I think everyone should own and scratch a capybara at least once in their lives.

@@danmel3978 the idiot saying they eat poodles is half right. At least in Brazil it's not advisable, since when found outside they are wild, and wild animals in general are protected by law (we can't have them at home without a special license). They don't eat poodles, but they might bite you if you approach them or their family.

@b1njjj954 жыл бұрын
They can be domesticated as pets, it just depends on where you live and your country's laws.

They need to be other capybaras or very social animals they also need to stay in the highly wet environment that is warm. Hopes this helps
@kylepessell13504 жыл бұрын
They are comfortable with any animal. They are so friendly that they'll allow smaller animals to sit on them without complaint and they like to rub against animals they've never seen before out of curiosity instead of being frightened.
@FokkerBoombass4 жыл бұрын
There are plenty of people with pet capybaras. There are many challenges with owning them, you have to provide them access to a sizable body of water pretty much 24/7 (they love to swim or just chill in water). And since they're giant rodents with giant incisors that never stop growing, they need to chew on stuff. Say bye to all of your furniture.
@MW-qt9ts4 жыл бұрын
Capybaras are an odd case. They don't have that many natural predators in their native environment save a few opportunistic predators. They're also a herd animal weirdly enough which makes them a bit more docile once they get used to you. Some people do keep them as pets but not many since they have so many requirements and needs.
