I know this isn't quite as streamlined as what Apple is doing with its latest updates. This summer, I was using a MacBook and iPhone 15 PM on beta software, and that was a pretty neat feature baked into their new software. Then I go back to using Samsung and Pixel devices and use Dex occasionally while I'm at work. It's crazy how everyday Android features or workarounds like this and Dex seem to be overlooked but are selling points in Apple's ecosystem. Apple is a good tech company, but more importantly for them, an amazing marketing company. That being said, I'd rather have choice and more features, so I'm sticking with my Z Fold6 and Pixel Fold.

I figured out the mouse issue just by watching your video lol I thought the new display command was all four of those commands listed so I was running them all at the same time, just fixed it and have no issues. Loving it, even figured out wireless with the new virtual display feature so I can leave my phone on my magsafe charging stand at work and still access my phone

Hey thanks for the video. I was wondering about a bunch of Scrcpy features like going into portrait mode. It is one of the Biggest Downfalls of Dex mode. Dex mode doesnt allow portrait mode ( on phones, Its been added to samsungs tablets). This seems like a way to work around that. Gonna have to check out the new version of scrcopy.

I have some goofing around to do to get it working just right with my Ready4 on my Lenovo phone, but your DPI issue can be fixed by adding /200 after the resolution. Then change the DPI if it's still not right.

You don't need that bat file to open a terminal. Type "cmd" in the title bar.

There are many ways to open a command prompt in that folder, but clicking the provided bat file is by far the simplest.

Interesting, Samsung dex mode is using secondary display output rather than just make their own virtual desktop mode

Have you tried changing the smallest width to like 611 and not using freeform Windows or desktop mode It'll force all apps to be tablet versions, enable the taskbar and allow for split screen on pixel devices (8 and up) Works as a Dex substitute when my s21 is out of data

When you trigger bigger screen with freeform windows phone is trying trigger to external desktop mode and due to lack of features currently pixel is missing back button etc. google has been improving freeform windows but inside primary screen aka phone screen for now. Maybe future external desktop mode will be like chromeOS. But surely both Samsung and OnePlus (even worse) messed up external secondary display output

All the software is doing is mirroring your phone screen. If your phone screen is off, that's what's going to happen.

what do you think could cause it to not work? when I connect my tablet (lenovo legion y700 2025) scrpy closes immediately. If I connect my phone, everything is fine

seems some apps dont work on scrcpy as its just a black screen like premium version or bank/finance apps. the latter is likely cause they dont know about real security, fake security which causes only inconvenience

@@Optioning Actually, I think I know what's going on there. Developers can choose to "gray out" app cards when you're in the App Switcher, like if you exit your banking app or have sensitive information in an Incognito tab. That setting might be carrying over to this, somehow? My banking app also goes gray when I'm switching apps.

​@@Danominator no they're just blocking screen capturing or output outside of the physical screen. Yes there is another API to block UI in recent apps overview screen but in this case those apps block screenshot or screen capturing. Scrcpy use casting

That's necessary, not fake security! Imagine your screen is visible to other apps capturing the screen or in video call. Someone can literally use it for wrong intention

There are online guides to install it on any version of Linux. I setup aliases afterwards so all I type is 1 to change resolution and DPU on the phone, then 2 in order to use scrcpy on my Debian box while turning off the phone screen.
