5:35 I think Kelly Rutherford as Christine scenes were all reshoot. She also had a scene on her bed calling Cotton before she jumped into the shower... which was cut also. The opening must have like 4 different versions cause there was one with Cotton trying to escape through the skylight as well... which I really liked. They should release extended cuts of all the films.. especially 2, 3 and 4. I was never a huge fan of Scream 3 but I enjoyed this cut so much more. You can't have such a big cast and have such a fast pace. Scream 4 had the same problem.

I remember the skylight one too but also can't seem to find it online.. As good as the opening scene is I think it's a let down how easily Cotton is killed.. Ghostface ends up under the heavy bookcase and 2 seconds later is up and about.. Cotton's poor attempts to go out a window with metal bars on it... through the skylight... leaving the front door open.

I loved the assembly cut I don’t like the opening tho. I like the opening phone call more in the assembly cut but I liked the chase scene with Christine and her defending herself. Sidney’s extended phone call that she got at her house with ghostface was so good I wish they kept it. The kills of Sarah darling and the bodyguard I liked a little more especially Sarah darling having ghostface slam her face in the glass seeing the shards in her face and ghostface shoving the knife deep in her back. Even for the bodyguard he was twisting the knife while it was in his back. Jennifer’s death makes more sense now and more so how ghostface escaped so fast since he killed her first before Dewey started shooting cause in the Final Cut it didn’t make sense where he went in that moment. Some scenes were better in the Final Cut like the monologue in the 3rd act it sounds better with ghostface’s voice instead of Roman’s. Even the cut scenes I enjoy like more interactions with the stab cast, ghostface talking to Sidney after he slapped her when she tried to untie Dewey, or ghostface getting the voices.

Mike if you noticed you can clearly tell there are 2 killers. There is another vehicle that veers out of the lane in traffic off towards the exit and Cotton follows the car! I think one killer was used for distraction and possibly the call and one was already at Cottons home

All those different deleted opening scenes on the dvd start with Cotton arriving at home with his car. The whole beginning in the traffic jam is so different and I really like it... it never made sense for Ghostface to ask Cotton where Sidney was.

My friend got it and I started watching it over her house and so far... I'm actually scared because I have no clue as to what I am going to see. That opening is amazing to me, I mean my jaw was dropping and I thoroughly enjoyed what we watched. I don't mind the "bootleg" feel of it because it's enough for me to feel like I'm literally watching a 🆕 SCREAM FILM. I have seen some of this alternative cut via the official Deleted DVD scenes but nothing like this and all edited together with a new score (not new, just more SCREAM feel to it. The opening is more meaty with the dialogue and the alternative voice used is PERFECT!!! It's kinda like #SCREAMVI opening. I'm so on board with this review here. I'm taking a break r/n. We got a lil overwhelmed and needed to chat about the differences between the theatrical and assembly cut.

From the Era of the good ol' #Halloween6ProducersCut before it was legit, so the whole "underground" feel of it is actually very nostalgic for me. I feel like it's early 2000's and I'm watching a similar release unfold AGAIN, right before my eyes. I have an appreciation for #Scream3 in general because I was like 12 or 13 when it released theatrically in theaters. My older cousin took me to see it and at this point, I'd seen #Scream2 #Scream '96 on the big screen and this one left a lasting impact on me.

I just watched the assembly cut and my mind is blown 🤯 I think scream 3 would of benefited greatly without the edits and reshoots. I’d rather see this version than the one that came out in theaters. It’s more meta and ominous which made the tension building scenes way better!

The assembly cut definitely has some scenes/moments that I wish made the final cut (mostly in regards to the Randy tape) but it blows my mind that even in the assembly cut there are no scenes with Roman and Sidney interacting at all. One of my biggest issues with Scream 3 has always been the fact that Roman gets very limited screen time and most the screen time he gets isn’t with core characters at all. It wouldn’t have been too hard to write a scene with Roman and Sidney meeting whether it’s at the police station or when she’s on set. When he first reveals himself as ghostface, her reaction should have been “who the fuck are you?” Lol I also hoped for footage with Angelina being the second GF as was originally intended in the script.

The Angelina plot line as Ghostface was in an early draft of the script, in that script the opening sequence was with an actor called Ben Damon (for Ben Affleck or Matt Damon) trying to help his girlfriend who was caught by Ghostface, that entire opening sequence didn’t end in a house instead the Hollywood sign hill. The third arc was set at Sunrise studios, Kincaid was killed, Roman and Angeline revealed to Sidney and Gale as in Scream 2 scene with Mickey and Ms Loomis. It was Dewey dressing like Ghostface who saved Sidney from Roman and Gale killed Angelina similar like Sidney killed Stu in Scream 1 at Sidney’s house set for STAB 3

I liked that the assembly cut out more focus on Cotton as opposed to Christine, but I thought the car speeding home was too drawn out. The closet surprise with Christine’s body was great!! However, I disagree with you on the dialogue; I prefer the theatrical version giving us Ghost face’s motivation for this attack.

Okay, I’m finally watching it now. I’m an hour in, and so far, I like it a lot. I can see why scenes of Sidney were cut for some to appear earlier and some to appear later; since watching this version (so far), you kind of forget that Sidney is part of the movie. There are also parts of scenes that I agree should be snipped, but some that I would’ve loved to see in the final cut. I will keep watching, but these are my thoughts so far. I'm watching this with the original side by side.

I’m debating which opening I prefer. Both are good. I like Christine’s scenes in the final cut, but I enjoyed seeing more Cotton in the assembly cut. I’m just going to list off what I liked from the assembly cuts opening scene: I liked that the voice was female up until Ghostface appeared. I and the trivia question, especially since the answer was literally his girlfriend's name. I like that it seems that the caller is in traffic watching Cotton and suggests that they're heading to kill Christine; it adds some tension to the car rush scene, knowing that it's about who gets to Christine first. I enjoyed the slow build once Cotton arrived at the house (I would've added the 100% Cotton playing on the TV). I also liked the reveal that Christine was dead in the closet all along and Cotton realizing that it wasn't her on the phone. I would've preferred more of a struggle between Cotton and Ghostface before Cotton’s kill. But other than that, a solid opening. I will rewatch it and take notes on the rest to add my thoughts to your next video.

Scream 3 aged verd well and it became one of my favorites. The Assembly cut has some awesome scenes, but i prefer the final version. I'm not a fan of the Assembly opening. Too long, too much talking, not enough Christine and the confrontation with Cotton. And Cottons death was anti climactic.

Subscribe to this channel! If I did earlier I might have heard about this cut being online. Unfortunately Paramount wiped the Cut from the internet. Maybe someone saved it and it will pop up eventually or the company will release it on Blu Ray or as a special feature or something. Hope to see it myself one day. I didn't mind the Original opening of S2. I just didn't really Care about the Cotton Character so it was always my least favorite opening of a Scream movie.

I gotta be real- the opening for scream 3 is the worst of all of them. It’s for most obvious instance of censorship. Very tame. Parker Posey was one of the best things about scream 3 I wish she survived. In fact, I love everything about scream but the opening and ending again bc of censorship. The ending of scream 3 feels equally toned down.

Meh. Either way Cotton dies so I don't like either, the original or this. Cotton's character has the most tragic story arc. Though I did like Ghostfaces last line in the Assembly Cut. Every single time I see Cotton die in Scream 3, I lost interest in the rest of the film and I really never cared for that story. No Randy. No Cotton. Makes the movie kind of boring to me and thanks to it also being a comedy lmao.
