"I want to be in the sequel!" You wouldn't remember, but that 'scream' mask was already popular in every Halloween store for years BEFORE the movie; it was a generic design based off of Edvard Munch's painting "The Scream", so it was already a mask that was EVERYWHERE at Halloween, which made it perfect for this movie. Also, this movie was intended to kind of spoof the slasher genre, and in doing so re-ignited the slasher genre for a new generation. Also also, the original title of this movie was "Scary Movie", but then they changed it, so then the spoof of THIS movie was called Scary Movie, and became a huge spoof franchise, re-igniting the spoof genre to a new generation! Also also also, the spoof "Scary Movie" was directed by Keenan Ivory-Wayans, and is to date still the highest grossing movie directed by a black director of all time! How cool is all that!?!
@darkamora51233 жыл бұрын
I believe Black Panther, directed by Ryan Coogler, which earned $1.344 billion, would respectfully disagree that Scary Movie earned more with $278 million. Even inflation adjusted it only comes in at around $430 million. You'll have to add some more qualifiers for that to be a true statement. Like horror movie with a black director, or spoof comedy, or released in the year 2000, otherwise it don't fly.

"I want to be in the sequel!" This movie was SOOOOO popular back in 96. It was considered a fresh take in the horror genre by adding deliberate humor to it. The merchandising of the Ghost Face costume made a ton of money a year later. And everyone wanted to know who the voice of Ghost Face on the phone was. And the internet was not as big as it is now so there was not a lot of research sites available. He and the studio were able to keep his identity secret for quite a while and build on it.

I want to be in the sequel! I love Matthew Lillard (yes, he played Shaggy in Scooby Doo, but I first remember him from the movie “Hackers” 1995.) Bit of trivia: David Arquette (Deputy Dewey) won the World Championship Wrestling title belt in a tag team match in 2000. He wanted to be a pro wrestler so bad, he fought in a hardcore “death match” where he was sent to the hospital with an injury bleeding from his neck and nearly died. It’s part of a documentary titled, “You can’t kill David Arquette”. (There is also an episode of “Dark Side of the Ring” Season 3: Episode 3 - The Ultra Violence of Nick Gage).

I was probably too young to watch it but fuck it. To this day it's still my third favorite movie of all time. Unfortunately for me, I watched the end first because when I walked into the house it was at the part where Gale crashes the van and then it came on again and I watched the rest so the ending was spoiled for me. But I still maintain that the opening scene of this movie is probably one of the best I've ever seen. Thanks for posting! Edit: this guy's voice is very soothing..... Ha oh dear...

"What does black nails have to do with movies? Nothing." Well, actually, especially being Hallowbeans, there is a scary movie called The Children (1980) (not the 2008 one of the same name) that has black nail polish as an important signifier. I randomly watched one scene on cable once when I was like 11 or something and scared the crap out of me and I immediately changed the channel. Took me like 20 years to figure out what movie it was posting about it online. The whole movie is available free on KZbin. If Ashley or anyone else watches it the random scene I saw as a kid was the graveyard scene near the start. Also, I want to be in the sequel.

Lol, that’s so funny, my sister and I were talking about that movie, The Children 1980, not too long ago. We’re both grew up on horror movies, and the only things I could remember was the black nails and the scene where the school bus of kids goes through a fog or something, and the way they killed people is by giving them hugs and touching them. We seen it on tv when we were kids ourselves, I do believe it was a made for TV movie.
