Scream VI is a 2023 American slasher film directed by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, and written by James Vanderbilt and Guy Busick. It is the sequel to Scream (2022) and the sixth installment in the Scream film series.
The film stars Melissa Barrera, Jenna Ortega, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Mason Gooding, Hayden Panettiere, and Courteney Cox, all reprising their roles from previous installments, alongside Josh Segarra, Jack Champion, Devyn Nekoda, Liana Liberato, Tony Revolori, Samara Weaving, Henry Czerny, and Dermot Mulroney joining the ensemble cast.
Scream VI follows a new Ghostface killer who targets the survivors of the "Woodsboro legacy attacks" in New York City.

As a huge loving fan of Scream and its protagonist Sidney, they *_REALLY_* should have stopped with Scream 3, when Wes Craven died and then Neve Campbell jumped ship from this film, I was done with this series. Sometimes a horror franchise needs to die in order to achieve a long-lasting legacy.

When ghostface is at the bodega and hits that guy there’s a soundbite gasp that they use in sitcoms that made me laugh 😂 dude. It’s almost as if Scream 6 is making fun of the audience. They’re saying we are making fun of all the shit in slashers that people like. Everyone gets stabbed, crazy families, terrible lines and dialogue, over explaining shit (mindy scenes). They wrote the movie like it’s elevating the tropes in horror and they’re not. It’s a caricature. This movie felt so forced and wanna be clever.

Me personally I always felt these scream movies would’ve worked better if they wasn’t sequels and connected at all together and just fresh stand alone scream movies. I am happy they got rid of Sidney because having Sidney in it ruins it from me and got played out after the second one. Same with Halloween. You said it’s only so much they can do with Halloween which it is only because they made it that way. Michael didn’t have to go after Laurie and every single movie. Having Laurie in the Halloween films take away from Michael and make him look like a joke constantly getting his ass whooped by his little sister lol. They should’ve ended the Michael and Laurie thing after Halloween 2 or Halloween h20. That’s what makes Friday the 13th and nightmare on elm street works better for me. New victims,totally new story that doesn’t constantly take you back to the very first movie.

That’s debatable. There is a few other recent movies I’m sure everyone is waiting for Matt to rant about (if you pay attention to Matt’s livestreams and what is the chat brings up). One that comes to mind is Avatar 2. Evil Dead Rise could be a second movie. We probably will never see an Avatar 2 rant because Matt wants a ton of money for it. It might’ve been a joke during a livestream, but he said he would watch the movie for a minimum of like $200, which I’m sure no one will send him.

Where is this 2+ hour cut of the movie? I've watched the movie twice (first time was when someone recorded it in the theater, and the second time was when an HD copy got released) and both times it ended around the 1 hour 55 minute mark. Plus back on April 29th, I watched a reaction channel do a livestream reaction to the movie. They stopped around 1 hour 55 minutes. Also, I don't really like to factor in runtime. I don't think short equals better. Just look at The Batman vs Skinamarink. The Batman felt shorter than Skinamarink. And 20 minutes of The Batman flies by faster than 20 minutes of Skinamarink. Also, The Batman feels shorter than a lot of slasher movies (keeping things related to slasher movies). The Batman flies by faster for me than a lot of Friday The 13th movies and Elm Street movies and Halloween 5. I think shorter movies feel longer to me just because of expectations. I get this idea that shorter means faster pacing, the narrative is tighter, and so on. But sometimes I'll watch an 80-minute movie, think about 40 minutes have passed, and it's only been like 10-15 minutes. But I'm not saying longer equals better either. I just want movies to be whatever runtime they need to be. From what I've been getting from a lot of reviews lately or livestreams (like the Graveyard Shift livestream), shorter equals better. I don't really get that argument, especially with what I went through/experienced in 2022 and up until maybe February 2023. I want movies to be as short as possible, but I also want them to factor in everything and have a proper runtime. I don't want a movie to be short or long for "just because" reasons. Anyway, Scream 6 was garbage. The second time I watched it, things got even worse. Characters were more annoying the second time, especially Jenna BOREtega. Jason Takes Manhattan is a much better slasher movie that takes place in New York. At least I can have some fun with that movie and laugh at stuff and come to the conclusion that it's so bad it's good. Can't say that about Scream 6. It's just a bad movie with all kinds of "hey, remember this?" moments. And I agree about the New York City setting. After a while, the whole New York City setting gimmick just goes away and it looks like it could be set in any town or city. I could go around my town and find similar buildings, streets/neighborhoods, alleys, etc. (except a subway) to the ones in Scream 6. It actually looks like they are back in Woodsboro after a while. Just a different part of it. I'm sure Woodsboro has some kind of apartment buildings in it. Maybe if they used a few more key locations in New York, I would've believed the movie was actually in New York. But every place they go/are at, it looks like any town or city in the U.S.

This was not very good, it was a lame retread of Scream 2 and I wasn't a fan of Jason Takes Manhattan but I will even admit that film is more entertaining than Scream VI. I have pretty much forgotten about everything in this film other than Dermot Mulroney's horrendous and embarrassing acting in the film's climax.

To me, Jason Takes Manhattan is a “so bad, it’s good” movie. Scream 6 though is just bad. Also, I try to forget the title of Jason Takes Manhattan and try to watch it as is. Kind of like how you should approach Halloween 3. Just go in and accept that Halloween 3 has nothing to do with Michael Myers and judge what is presented to you. So for Jason Takes Manhattan, I just see it as Jason on a boat/ship and then the characters Jason is going after eventually find themselves (interesting enough) in New York/Manhattan once Jason causes enough trouble on the boat/ship to make them get off it and to somewhere safe.

Saw this on a double bill with Scream 5 on opening day, as I missed the former when it came out last year ; I was fine with Scream 5 till the third act when it became lazy "fan service". There was an ten minute interval between the end of 5 and the start of six and I considered leaving at that point, but stayed and watched the other film, which doubled down on similar nonsense of the previous movie. There's no way in hell I'm paying for a seventh one!

And it should’ve stayed that way the franchise should’ve stayed dead with the first three films. The first three films should’ve been the end of it all especially scream three. Scream 6 just another name that I've added to a list of 2023 films that I've flushed down the America shaped toilet bowl. Agree with the sentiments. However, out of all the 2023 schlock so far, Scream 6 was the least shitty. At least I knew what to expect and I found myself laughing at the film (as opposed to getting annoyed, bored and looking at my phone with Crud Pee, Gnat Man Pee and John Come Out to Plaaaaayyyyayyyyyyy 4). How did anyone not see the Ghostface killers coming? I'm glad Neve wasn't in this. It didn't feel right to not have Sidney involved, but the story didn't have a role for her at the same time. Especially when this is yet again, a revenge plot for fallen family who deserved to die in the first place. I'm glad Neve demanded more money that she rightfully deserved. Part 6 was a waste.

One part that really annoyed me was the whole “she orchestrated the attacks” rumor because wasn’t Sidney there ? Finally saw Scream 6 yesterday. I got some enjoyment out of this installment. But, the franchise is really running out of steam fast now. The thing that bothered me the most is how some of the victims of ghostface somehow survive the pretty serious stab wounds. The revelation of the killers was also a bit farfetched. Anyhow, I still give it a 3 out of 5 stars, but this franchise is really nearing its end now!

They played things a bit safe though and while they had some more creativity I don’t think they went far enough with it. She has zero personality or charisma and everybody in this cast sucks. The story makes no sense if you think about it for 5 seconds. Nobody in the police force realizes that one of their cops was the father of a killer (from Scream 5)? The lead dated the guy in Scream 5 and not once did she know about the guy's dad or siblings? What?? It wasn't even that gory. And other than the opening? Nothing in this was new or different...just a crappier version of Scream 2. To each their own.

And I don't think everybody sucks (were gonna forever disagree about Jenna Ortega at this point lol) yeah nothing new but I think that is what's working in its favor. 1. I'll take Scream 2 over this crap. Although, I'll give this movie *ONE POINT* for bringing back Kirby Reed and not killing her off. That Sam chick is basically Rey Palpatine for the Scream remakequels because she has no personality whatsoever. At least the Meeks-Martin Twins have more personality than the lead bitch and her bland sister. I'd rather them be the two leads because I like the girl who plays the sister. Also that opening with Samara Weaving was a big middle finger because I liked her in Ready or Not and she's a better lead than the chick who plays Sam.

I feel the Scream movies have basically become redundant at this point. It’s the same shit, as much as it tries to be creative. Kind of like the Final Destination series. Friday the 13th 1 through 4 were redundant, but after that I actually felt they did a good job making each movie a unique experience. Same concept, but they all had their own thing. Can’t say the same here. Bunch of school kids, killings happen, they speculate who it could be, it always ends up being multiple people, one of the killers fake kills themselves, etc.etc. The one good thing I will say about this particular scream movie is the blood and gore were a bit upgraded from prior films. Other than that, it ain’t got nothing much else.

I'm not surprised that you hate Scream 6 considering that like the previous movie (i.e. Scream 2022) it was another unneeded movie in a iconic yet very long-running horror franchise that needs to end ASAP. Add to the fact that it contains boring and uninteresting actors and scenes that are beyond nonsensical and stupid (i.e. Ghostface in the convenience store and the theater scene) makes this movie the worst movie of the entire Scream franchise.

Ghostface was in the convenient store in the first one which was one of the first scenes I ever saw and that's why it's taken me almost 27 years to give these movies a chance. And in the first one he was there in broad daylight

It was trash. People getting stabbed 30 times and making it out alive was dumb enough, then they had that moronic reveal of the killers. The "Core Four" thing was also dumb as hell. It bothers me. Action fans were smart enough to allow Terminator Dark Fate to end that terrible run of movies, but horror fans keep eating up every insulting, sub part piece of garbage sequel these studios keep churning out.
