This was a really good adaptation albeit altered version of the Stephen King story. After watching it I immediately went to reread the source material. The short story was originally published in the Spring 1989 Issue of the Midnight Graffiti magazine and later on in his collection Nightmares and Dreamscapes. There are some differences but nothing that takes away from the quality of this short. In the short story, the young couple meet the older residents in a store in town, there are no figures in masks, and the story takes place in Maine. The arc of the husband is different too. This film made good use of tone and atmosphere and the toad shots worked well and were just enough for the viewer to get the point. The ending was a little quick as I would have liked to have seen more of the aftermath. The acting was believable and this was an overall great experience to watch. King is not an easy adaptation and this one delivered. Great work and thanks to all involved. Long days and Pleasant nights. Peace.

Read the original Stephen King story, although not right on the story, it was a great adaptation!!! ❤

In the end at least he showed his never to be wife she was his main squeeze !!!! With that many toads i bet the fishing next morning for those that knew how to stay alive would have been some killer fishing !!! I have not read the story but King knows how to make you freak , & the little guys well as I've not yet read the story i take are the ones that make this happen every seven years & they don't change. Still after reading some comments i see the kids & masks were not in the story so we will assume it's only poetic licence on the filmmaker part. Sad end as SK would have probably done the same thing. I will read the story ...

It’s ridiculous! Some people just love to complain tho.... they aren’t happy unless they’re complaining about something ! @@Msmary98-98 I don't get it really. I like subtitles, I think dubbing takes half of the actor performance and it's very helpful for learning languages. I catch things easier by hearing them so watching movies and series with subtitles is a fun part of education.

This was an unnecessary adaptation, it added nothing that was good, but lost the spirit of the original. We get a few masked figures doing nothing in particular and a vague hint to a ritual, all of which make the story aimless. The torrent of toads was really just a trickle. The man doing the crunchy frog to his wife also felt arbitrary.

Spoiler, The town sacrifices couples from out of town to protect themselves from being victims of the toads, the husband ended up possessed and killed the wife. The old couple the warned them in the beginning of the short knew what would happened to them and wanted it to happen in order to protect their town Willow. I hope that helps you understand the ending, it was a little confusing when it came to the kinds in the robes, I don't really see their purpose.
