I just did the Smart tuning with my SE Pro tuner, I saw a big difference in the way the bike responds after calibration, a lot smoother and faster response time / M8 107 with stage 2 torque cam Rinehart racing inverted air cleaner and slip-ons. Thx for your video 😉

@@aztriumphster I have a couple of questions, 1. I have a 2020 Breakout 114 and I just got the V&H Twin Slash 3s.. With only these slip ons, is a tuning required? 2. during your video, you had everything plugged up, then you stated at one point where you have leave the tuner plugged up and go for a ride.. once you complete the ride at this point you have to plug it back into the computer? I guess what I'm trying to ask is tuning is a 2 step process correct?

Not to down talk the HD stuff but people should know there is a cap on how much adjustment the HD system allows due to EPA. Most adjustment will be in the VE tables to a certain percentage. Same with AFR. Meaning if a certain cell creates most HP at 12:1 but EPA only allows 13.9:1 then guess what. You will only be able to go 13.9:1 because EPA. If you are really worried about warranty then it's your only option. If you want the emost I'd go power vision, TTS, even FP3 gives more adjustment. FYI. Do what you feel comfortable doing.

I bought the same tuner for my 2020 softail standard and after setting an appointment with the dealer, showing up and paying for it the service guy told me it wouldn’t connect and he’s never seen it before but he’ll get back to me on when the head technician will be in snd I can come back. But when I got home I realized my seat hadn’t been taken off and the tuner was still taped in the bubble wrap with the “do not remove tape or no returns” sticker intact

I have no clue when it comes to that stuff, I want to do a Stage 1 but the tuner is whats got me because I don’t want to take it to Harley and have them kill me with labor so I’d like to do it myself. The other thing is that I don’t have a PC and I don’t think the software is compatible with an Apple laptop. I’ll be getting some new thing on my bike because some guy backed into it while I was at a doctor appointment in Phoenix and messed up a bunch of stuff on the exhaust side, pretty disappointing considering I’ve only had the bike for less than a month at this point, 2020 was crappy and it ended even crappier with that happening.

Sorry to hear about the bike man. I had a similar thing happen when I had my sportster 48. Regarding the PC, use ur current laptop and go to harleys site and look for the downloadable tuner program. If u can download it then u should be good to go.

I setup the tuner in data collect mode and go to a freeway asap. Then I just went wide open in each gear as close to redline as possible until I hit a very unreasonable speed.

Hey there! Congrats on ur new bike acquisition. In most cases, if u get the tuner module along with the purchase of the bike, the bike has likely been tuned. Even more so when the bike has upgrades that u mentioned. But if we aren't assuming it has been tuned, u would need to download the program to ur computer, pickup the wire kit so u can plug the module into the bike and onto ur computer, then open the program and check if there is an aftermarket map already being used.

I'm new to Harley-Davidson and bought a 05 Softail Deluxe. It has a Screaming Eagle stage 4 big bore kit. And has the CNC PORTED..on the motor. But when I asked the local Harley-Davidson dealership they said my tuner is under the seat. I checked and it's not there? Where else could it be?

They may have been referring to the ecu having been flashed but if not that then check behind any side covers

2005 you might have a power commander 3 or 5. It will be a gry box or red box. Normal it was Velcro under seat on top of battery. It would piggy back from your ECU.

You can use it with all stock everything. Selecting stage 1 map is going to deliver more fuel so u would notice a difference im sure. U will get more out of an air cleaner upgrade along with the tune and better that with slip ons

Just went out and did a sessions with Multiple, different records taken place. Came home with a bunch of files & then the confusion begins. We could totally have a conversation on this next bunch of processes. I had 32 files collected & have no idea if it actually merged itself with the Canned map or what. I can say that it is a complicated process but ive only used power commanders up until this point. It should have taken all the data it collected and made adjustments to one map. I plan to eventually go back out with mine, after I upgrade the intake manifold.

Hello, if it's a Screamin Eagle tuner, you should be able to follow the steps in the video and select a generic map that caters more to your current setup. However, I think your setup would still be considered a stage 1. So you could leave the current map and just use the smart tune feature to gather more riding data and apply it so the bike runs more efficiently.

I have 2018 Lowrider with stage 1 ( Rinehart’s & S&S air cleaner) I have the pro street tuner and the dealer did the tune when I bought the bike new. I have recently set up external breather I’m wondering if I should do a re-tune although it’s running pretty good not just for the external breather but may be there is some kind of update?

@@aztriumphster I didn’t buy a kit. Kits around 100 bucks and you can put it together yourself for much much less. First thing of course is to figure out which application for your AC. There are three different ones I know of depending on your air cleaner. There are banjo bolt set up for use with air cleaners with thin backplates. There are some air cleaners you have to modify the backplate as in drilling and tapping where the breather bolts go and installing fittings perpendicular to breather bolts. Or in my case with S&S AC and others too I used stock ( stock bolts are like a straw whereas S&S breather bolts hollow on one side with pin hole on side to route gases through channels in backplate) breather bolts with stock little hose that attaches to outside of breather bolt and T’s off to hose that would of originally been pointed back into intake. I just diverted hose into larger hose down to a K&N crankcase breather available at most auto parts stores via a little three dollar joiner. I will see if I can put some pictures on here

The FP3 isn’t a great tuner. The power vision is much better. I don’t know much about the screaming eagle tuner. If I wanted to keep my power train warranty on my sportster I would get the screaming eagle tuner.

The first bike u use it on is the one its locked with. The tuners usefulness doesn't go away after the first download tho. U can do the smart tune and anytime you add pr change a part u can reprogram it using the smart tune.

It won't ruin the bike. You have a rather high flowing exhaust compared to stock or just slip ons, so you will want to add an air cleaner and tuner soon. If its a matter of a few months, you should be fine.

@@pokecryptidz5409 Motorcycles are set to a lean mixture from the factory. This means it will run hotter. A richer mixture will cool it down. This is why tuning it sooner rather than later is a good idea. Break in has more to do with seating piston rings etc. than air/fuel. Plus isn't the break in service at 500 miles?

The V&H tuner was my first choice, however, after doing some research, i found that using any tuner other that Harleys, have a likelihood of presenting warranty issues down the road. Also, i cantacted my local harley dealer and spoke to a tech that i trust, who also was an advocate for the V&H tuner, and he said that more recently he has seen some cases where M8s with the V&H tuners are coming thru with ECM issues. I reccomend doing ur own research and see what u come up with, only because i find it a tad hard to believe that a V&H tuner would cause ECM issues. What it came down to for me was that my bike is till under warranty, and the warranty restriction info about tuner use, came straight from the manufacturer's website.

The short answer is no.

However if u install yourself and then u have an issue with the bike and try to get that issue covered under the manufacturer warranty, the technician diagnosis the issue, files their report and if they and the manufacturer conclude that the issue is related to the tuner and that the tuner was installed incorrectly, then the manufacturer denies the warranty claim.

In that scenario if a certified harley tech installed the tuner, then the dealership who.employs that tech should remedy the situation. But if u installed it, then u no way to recover from another party.

Technically speaking, installation of an aftermarket part can't void a warranty. The facilitator of that warranty must conduct a thorough investigation to prove that the aftermarket part or installation of that part was the cause of the failure.
