"Screaming like a banshee" - Typhoon Mangkhut hits Hong Kong

Typhoon Mangkhut's winds were so strong that skyscrapers in Hong Kong swayed, making occupants feel dizzy. You could see it clearly by looking at water levels in a fish tank.
The sound of the wind was terrifying - my son Lionel described it as a "screaming banshee" (a female spirit in Irish mythology that heralds death).
Our dog Merlin was really scared and required extra TLC.
Hong Kong experienced sustained winds of 170 km (105 miles) per hour, and gusts up to 216 km (134 miles) per hour.
