I love this version. They appeared on Later during what would their final UK tour in ‘96. Anyone who saw them at The Astoria in London will tell you they were at the top of their game, playing as their lives depended on it, fronted by the one of greatest voices in rock music. Mark Lanegan RIP

I hung with these guys on the Dust tour and saw them live about 9 times. The Conner brothers are about the coolest guys you could ever hope to meet and Josh is a really great guy. Barrett pretty much keeps to himself and Lanegan, well, he's Lanegan. I saw Josh years later at a QOTSA show and he remembered my name which was really impressive considering how many people he must come across.

There's quite a few vids where he's using it. I was told (by Van) that he also used it a lot on the album Dust too...

I saw the Trees in '96 in Bellingham at the "Hype" premiere, the opening acts were Mono Men, the Fastbacks, TAD, and Dead Moon. Josh was swapping leads with Gary Lee, Lanegan had his Lizard King beard, Ray Bans, and leather pants. Unbelievable. Barrett Martin's greatness as a drummer cannot be overstated.

Lanegan shits on the Trees music a bit in his book, but damn they had some tunes. Dust is a truly magnificent record. Also, reading the section around this performance, its amazing he could even stand up there to sing. Thankfully he made it through to keep making awesome music today.

This is the best version of this song hands down. Thank you for putting this out here. Long live Mark and long live music!! Edit: I would like to add that Mark had this undeniable magnetism in performances and drew you in and reminds me of Jim Morrison in a lot of ways. Edit 2: Mark should still be alive and the Screaming Trees should have had more press coverage and way more success than what they had. They truly rocked very hard and those of us who have heard them, are pretty damn lucky! Long live Mark and his good friend Kurt. And shout out to Chris while were at it!!

you both hit it right on the head - songs like this make me so happy but yet left with a sadness that this song will probably never be performed again live - there's a huge void left in the music industry and I haven't found too many bands to fill it - The Black Keys, Son Volt. .. there's a few good ones out there but the mad grunge days are over.

I'm met mark one time in Atlanta when Queens of the Stone age started their tour for songs for the deaf 2 months before the record came out with Dave Grohl on the drums. I honestly did not know who he was when he was coming out on the stage for a few songs so after the gig I walked up to him he's smoking a cigarette and I said hey man what's your name and he just very quickly nonchalantly said Mark in his gravelly ass voice and kept walking.
