One of the most sonically beautiful recordings ever. Fitting tribute, the bass line was one of Mr. Seligman's best and most sublime. I cannot recommend The Flat Earth more to anyone who want to hear true muscianship! Rest In Power, MS! Thank you Mr. Dolby!

*The world will never fully understand the depth and reaches of Thomas Dolby's work. He is an absolute living prophet under the guise of Homo sapiens. No person has ever created the intensely beautiful and moving soundscapes, mystical worlds and soul-wrenching emotions through music in the way Thomas has. I will forever escape into them.*

Some of these quiet pieces, including this title "Screen Kiss", I associate with Thomas Dolby as Debussy of pop music. Some pieces are like in a dream. Such a wonderful song for a good friend. R.I.P. Matthew Seligman

I met you both all but briefly, in 84 after the Flat Earth show that night at the Dominion Theatre, hanging by the stage door cos that's what teenagers do. Just remember Matt and you giving us so much time, signing autographs and putting the worlds to rights. Screen Kiss is the perfect tribute mate, in my opinion it's one of the greatest songs ever written and the bass is sublime. RIP Matthew.

I love this song. English vocabulary, or any existing language vocabulary for that matter, is not even closely capable of describing the emotions I feel when listening to it. It's just one of these songs that simply resonate with ones soul. The frequencies, the tempo, the instruments, the general vibe of this song. It's as if I always knew these sounds, even before I was born and as if I will still recognize them after I pass away.

Just beautiful. And thank you for hosting the lovely candlelight vigil. It was cathartic. I was a Soft Boys-obsessed, law office working, bass player when I 1st "met" Matthew online 20 years. Little did I know that my fangirl missive would lead to a sweet friendship that endured the trials & travails of 2 decades of living. In thinking about how I could honor his legacy, I've decided to BLMS - "Be Like Matthew Seligman." The best way I can honor him is by being more like him - generous with my spirit, cheerful, open-minded and loyal. What a world this would be if everyone would BLMS!

Thank You Thomas, for all your music, it's been inspirational and relaxing to me when involved in my times of recreation and creation. I wish I could say I followed in your footsteps, but only my imagination and my love for synth music which began with guys like you, tomita and kraftwerk. And say Richard Tandy of ELO. I'm happy to have been born in 1970 at the creation of the microchip, but synthesizers and additive synthesis was outside of the range of my piggy bank, I could at best afford a Casio Cz-101 and eventually a Roland MT-32. Eventually in my forties I would own an iPad and buy all the apps including the Fairlight and Mellotron emulators, but am too bored after an hour of playing with the same cycle of music.. So I have tons of music, just no songs. My main fun now is playing with AI art generators like Wombo and the tools on huggingface. I'm hoping to see what apps appear as a result of AI guided creation. But I don't feel non-linear creation ever really happened, cause the interfaces to recording and production has been analogous to tape based recording. I was hoping to have software that would let me synthesize music in an interface like Blender's shader and post-production video tools. I can code, but not well enough to construct a modular music production tool I've been thinking of that is free of timelines and numbers.. So we look onward, find fascination in the toys we have but long for the next advance that makes creation fun. And the music where the love began.

This is by far, one of my favorite songs of all time. I vividly remember listening to this track and the white city whenever I would go for a walk during the winter. I remember when Map of a Floating City was being recorded in 3 sections, and Mr Dolby told the story of how he sent a demo to someone and it came back with a bass part by some person. And it was so impressive you kept it. My reaction was "i don't care how good it was... I WANT SELIGMAN!". TMDR is clearly a genius, but Matthew's unique playing was an important part of the sound and flavor. Secret Sauce, if you will. I don't know if Mr. Seligman's passing will break your spirit, or spur you on to write and record again. I hope the latter. The world could use some more Thomas Dolby music.... especially during these trying times.
