Nice review. I was part of the cheap coil vs infrared discussion on your page last week. Good to see this is infrared and auto. Huge savings if it works consistently. I print WB so will be following. Thanks Cam.

Dear Cam, thanks for this. I like to play the China gamble on stuff like this. Even if you have to buy 2 or 3 it still usually ends up cheaper than name brand and you end up with a shit load of parts to keep one running for years.

PERFECTLY timed review!!! Looking to buy one in about a month. I HATE risking a purchase of Chinese knockoffs without first hand knowledge from someone I trust. If this works it will save me some cash......someone might get a super chat $$$ off this review if the unit doesn't explode and you can find replacement bulbs?? Anxious to see the results! Even if it fails miserably, that is probably even more valuable as we would know to not be tempted!!!!! Flash away, flash away....flash away all!

Hello Cam. Here is a follow up. I bought this flash back in March. My proximity sensor went out a couple weeks ago. As far as I could tell, to replace the one in the machine is about $60 - $70 and a month or two from China. I found one in the states that works great (so far). It's a $21 part and shipping was about $10. Company is Automation Direct and the model number is FB6-LN-OE Along with that part you need an M12 4 pin Female plug with cord. I found one of those on amazon for $11. ( uxcell M12 Female Straight 4 Pin Connector Aviation Socket Electrical Cable 2M) I didn't save all that much but had the parts in two days rather than a month.
@scottwesner17066 жыл бұрын
For me, I'd start printing and a couple minutes in the unit would stop working. I'd wait a few minutes and it would start working again and I could usually finish the run without any more trouble. That would be after the palettes were warmed up and I'd decreased the dwell time. Which at the time made me think it was a thermal problem also. After a couple weeks of this it just stopped working completely. I need to add though about the sensor I mentioned above, it does a shitty job reading dark fabric so I moved the sensor to a $1 electrical box mounted to the front of the flash unit. Now the sensor reads the press arm as it rotates in stead of the palette. If you want a picture of the mount and want to post your cell I'd text it to you. Make sure you're unit is unplugged if you take it apart. Good luck.

The bulbs are fine, Ours started overheating and shutting of, however dozens of other shops have tried then with great luck, I think I wired mine up wrong, and it may have a defective, temp controller.

I just bought an ordinary flash dryer for the first time.. I am so unhappy with the way it operates .. 2000 watts and takes a long time to warm up and I dont think its safe at all .. needs to be plugged into a proper wall socket that tolerates high voltage... so, I thought of making my own .. I have two construction flood lights of 500 watt each .. I will yank out the shit thats inside the flash dryer I just bought and replace its elements with the two flood lights.. I will save lots of power because It will only be lit when needed. Thank you for sharing this with us.

@ThePrintLife6 жыл бұрын
The IR bulb flash is ok we have put it through its paces, and if it weren't for the overheating it would be amazing but out particular unit over heats. IR Panel Flashes are great, but the whole move the pallet from under the thing when you need to step is frustrating at times.
