You just became one of my FAVORITE people because of this video, the production design for this film has always fascinated me and it's always infuriating me the disregard people have for it just because of the film's "reputation". After all these years of putting up with the amount of slander this movie receives, it's delightful seeing people finally show it some love.

Arnold clearly had what it took to do Mr. Freeze justice. In the softer tender moments where he's brooding and deeply emotional he SELLS it. MORE OF THAT PLEASE. But then no, back to the ice puns. Also nice of them to cast an Austrian actor for the part because I believe Victor Fries is of germanic (austrian, german, swiss) origin. Also Chris, have you heard of the fan made "Batman Forever: Red Book Edition?" It aims to restore the original darker gothic tone Schumacher intended for the film before executives more interested in marketing to young children and selling toys, intervened. It's called Red Book edition because it restores the almost completely DELETED red book sub plot of the film. Bruce's journey to accepting that he CHOOSES to be batman instead of being obligated to. Much of the original footage was lost so parts of the cut are rough and a few reconstructions from storyboards etc. are used. But the scenes are re-cut in a new order, the lighting and tone of the film images has been tweaked and it is the closest we will ever get to glimpsing the original vision. I stand by my stance that Kilmer is in the top 4 best batmen actors EVER. (Kilmer, Affleck, Pattinson, Keaton) Live action that is...we all know the immortal Kevin Conroy is the single best.

Hey Boss, just discovered your channel and love your passion for these things. Believe it or not, I worked on Batman And Robin right out of highschool at Rick Baker's Cinovation studios. I was a lowly P.A./runner at the time as it was my first shop in the makeup FX industry. I can tell you with absolute certainty that the frozen Robin was made at Rick's shop as were the other frozen bodies. I was there and saw them every day. Cinovation did the Makeup effects and many of the bodies including Nora freeze who was based on a body cast of Model Vindela. The guys in charge of the frozen body effects included Matt Rose(predator fame) Chad waters, Kazuhiro Tsuji( academy award winner but very new back then) Jesse Lincoln and many others that were integral. It took a LOT of trial and error and in the end was made up mostly of vacuform pieces and hand applied clear urethane over castings of icicles. The freeze armor and bat costumes were done by Jose Fernandez and his crew at "The Bat shop" which was movie specific and wrapped after production. An interesting piece of history is that the batcave was built in long beach C.A> in the hanger for "the spruce goose" right next to the Queen Mary. It was there for years.

One of Mr. Freeze's full costume is stored in Hutchinson's "Strataca" salt mine museum in Kansas. I saw it there when I visited the museum back in 2009. The salt mines act as a giant safe for most of the magnetic media that Hollywood produced, including many props.

i didn't understand all the hate those films got clooney and o'donnell were good as the dynamic duo but a blonde batgirl? uh, no she should have been a redhead the campiness was reminiscent of the tv series everybody loves
@oldhollywoodfan80094 ай бұрын
Agree 💯 % with each point. When it comes to Batgirl, this was the first comic character movie where I was disappointed with the origin and appearance changes of a character. And to top it off, we hardly see her in the cowl. That was a bummer. Never understood why they did that with her.

You know what, the Batman and Robin hate needs to end Everything people shit on this movie for is all the things they praise the MCU for. Jokes, silliness at the expense of the plot or fight scenes, over the top sequences "But da story bad". Not really. Rewatching it recently I can say the story is actually pretty solid. "If Freeze wanted to save his wife why did he suddenly want to make the planet uninhabitable for people?" Because he thought his wife was dead. He thought Batman and Robin killed her because Ivy said they had so he wanted revenge against them, Gotham and then the rest of the world "Makes no sense why Ivy even went to Gotham when she could just control the Amazon". She spotted the Waybe Enterprises logo on a beaker and realized she could use Wayne's money and influence for her goals which is why she approached him with a business proposition when she arrived in Gotham and decided to go a more villainous route after he turned her down The Bat credit card was stupid though. Batman and Robin at a charity event as well but that felt like Adam West stuff
