I agree to the point to push people out of such industry because of the fact people are afraid of losing ground and to make sure not just everyone can get in, but in todays world.. it's possible for anyone to get in. Seems more like an I can't person than I can.. I think true writers believe in their talents and their actions speak louder than their words. Unfortunately, I don't think the business is filled with aspiring writers that should think I can't, otherwise no one would try.

Interesting comment at 58:34 comparing what's available to watch to what's available in live music genres.

I think pessimism is essential for this line of business. Lots of empty talk, lots of BS. For your own health it's best not to expect the your dreams to come true. I know that sounds awful but it's true and it's necessary for aspiring writers to hear that.

hmmm I think you advice this, so the aspiring writer doesn't hurt his feeling. But Just like with cooking if you going to make an omelet you will break some eggs ;) Personally I do believe you have to be obsessive about it. :) but in life there are many approaches to reach your goal.

So.. no one who tries hard, networks, and works their tail off should expect their dreams to come true? I mean, no offense, but a lot of great writers, directors, producers, actors, presidents, and overall people follow their dreams and they held them close and believed in them. Otherwise they would have never gotten to where they wanted.. I think a person believing to second guess their talents is more worthless than a person telling them too..

This guy seems like he has a lot of success and failures. I'd say he knows definitely what he is talking about, but some of his PERCEPTIONS on how to get things out there are based SOLEY on his own outcomes, not just how the biz works. He also seems pessimistic about getting into the industry.
