I've loved Bruce Beresford for years. I just stumbled upon this movie. It is just lovely. it's not uplifting in a shamlzy nostalgic way. The filmmakers create a world, lovely music, beautiful scenes, great script, gorgeous light. I notice some here say they have watched it more than once. and me too. I may be on my fourth viewing. Whenever I just need confirmation that life can turn out well and people are decent,, I watch this. Thank you Mr. Beresford. You created this very human story about people coming together in unexpected way.

I grew up in Waterloo so Sydney City was our local shopping centre and I can relate so much to this movie. My mum was born in 1944 and she worked in DJs. She died in 1999 and when I watch this movie I feel so close to her 😇

What a great film, congatulations Bruce. Each scenario in it could be a whole film in its self. As a Hungarian "refo" myself becoming an Australian Citizen at 2 years old, what golden times in my woderful adopted home.

I've just come back from watching this movie. It was a wonderful movie. I want to go back and see it again tomorrow. I was so impressed with how they made a whole city, and all the interiors of the houses look like 1959. Cinematography was fantastic and the casting. They were such real personalities. I felt like I knew every one of them in my life at some point.

What a wonderful movie, thought id just take a look with no expectations,,wow was I surprised,a world class act..period settings/cars/dress/scenery/shops/furniture/houses,so identical to that period..i felt like I had gone back in time and was reliving my past teenage years..actress Angourie Rice is surely destined for a bright future on the screen.as were all the other actors who were superb..direction,production,photography all great.....cant give it enough praise..Great Australian Movie.

The film seems a bit shallow at first, but if you watch it long enough (about half way through), it grows on you.

Loved the film BUT in the scene at Hyde Park I could CLEARLY see Sydney 2017 traffic in the distance.... it's a minor inconsistency to an otherwise great film.

I missed that bit. I'll have to go back and see it for a third time, just so I can pick this out.
