Aleu may be kind of a drama queen, but I feel really bad for her, every pup got a new owner but nobody wanted Aleu. The ending was probably one of the saddest animation movie endings ever (I'm not gonna spoil what happened). I also feel bad for Balto, he became pretty hard on himself, because he thought it was his fault that Aleu ran away. We should probably blame the people for it, because everyone wanted the pups that look like Jenna and Aleu was the only one who wasn't getting adopted.

In the first movie, he saved hundreds of lives from a disease-stricken Nome and in the end, he's seen as a hero. Despite the fact this work is fiction; the true Balto was pure husky! I stand by the idea that Aleu is less mad about being part wolf than she is about Balto not telling her that's the reason why she hasn't been adopted. I understand where Balto is coming from, but withholding information about his and Aleu's origins/genetic history, especially when it has an impact on how society will view them, was not protecting her; it just allowed her to walk into dangerous situations because she never knew better (i.e. almost getting shot by a hunter), and it gave her false hope that she could have been adopted, despite their town's prejudice. In today's day and age, and perhaps in different regions of the world, I'm sure people would be more likely to adopt Aleu, I know I would have, but the environment they were living in and how wolves/half wolves were viewed should have been reason for her to know the truth.

And also, again, she would have known better than to approach that hunter because she'd know she was a target. There's a lot in her life that was affected by the way she looks and why she looks like that. Not knowing that until adulthood wasn't doing her any favors, especially with Balto knowing (and even saying) that with the way Aleu looks, no human would ever want her, and she had to find that out in the _worst_ possible way.

@@cocolover1237 Well that's a hard one to me, honestly. Neither are based on real events, so leaving that part out we move on to other points. You see, Balto III would have been a similar story-line to Balto I - Balto to the rescue, if on a smaller scale. But the focus was too much turned on an attempt to give Boris more screen time, with the most ridiculous character of all the three movies combined, a pink female 'Lady gaga'-type goose 'Stella'. That ruined Balto III for me. Balto II at least stayed true to its 'nature', though I fail to see the point behind the story. It may be more true to its nature, but it feels a bit shallow to me, if that makes sense. So the best thing I can do is focus on the 'core' of the story, where Balto II stayed truest and so I'll go for that one - but only by a small percentage. Balto I is better than the two combined, if you ask me.

In Alue's defense, she's still very young, barely older than one year old, so she's technically not a little puppy anymore, but still in human eyes, a pup, or a teenage puppy, she won't be a full grown adult until she's at least 3 or 4 years old, which explains why she's acting so immature. Also, you have to take in that she has been shunned out by the humans her entire life for a reason she didn't know while she was forced to see how all her brothers got families, homes and got adopted except her, something that really must have hurt her self-steem. Remember she claims how "I knew there was something wrong with me", meaning she blamed herself for not being like the others. It must have been extra hard because she grew up believing she was a pure husky, so finding out that a human tried to kill her because they thought she was a wolf, and that the reason why no one adopted her and no one will ever do it is because of something that she can't control like her own genes, that she carries because of her dad, who lied to her her entire life about it, must have hurt. Is it fair she lashes out at Balto like that? No, of course not, but she's a puppy, a teenager at her best that has just been attacked and got revealed the biggest and most important secret of her entire life, and finding out that her dream of having a human family will never happen, all because of her dad's genes, all because she had the worst luck that out of ALL her brothers and sisters, who share the same genes as she does, she had the worst luck to look more like a wolf than the rest. It's an incredibly cruel and unfair situation...which hurts her deeply...and makes her lash out, in this case, at Balto. Was it wrong she blamed him or told him what she did? Yes, but it was the heat of the moment, later she still loved her and didn't resent him.

She's a teenager at the end of the day, she's young and unsure of herself. She does have every right to be mad, although she can't blame Balto either. It's not his fault he fell in love with a husky. But at the same time, Aleu doesn't understand at this point as she's young. What ppl are forgetting is that I think this movie was trying to tell people to be proud of their heritage/ethnicity. Aleu ends up embracing her wolf side in the end so she does learn. I for one, once hated the idea that I was half Irish. Wanted nothing to do with it. Hated the idea of it. But now, I've learned to love the fact that I'm Irish and I embrace it more than being British. Though sometimes I remember that I need to embrace my British side too. The message in this movie is a smart one, and has a good lesson to learn, it was just executed poorly.

I know it wasn’t right for Aleu to say she hates Balto for something he couldn’t control, much less change about himself, and transferred on to her through genetics, but I can understand that she’s so young that she has no idea how to process what she just learned. I mean, think about it in terms of Naruto learning the Nine-Tailed Fox was sealed away inside of him for years and everyone else knew except for him, and that was why he was never accepted in the village. Look at how he responded. He was angry, confused, and ready to lash out at someone because he didn’t know how to process it. Aleu just learned she’s part wolf and looks more wolf than husky, which is why a Hunter just tried to kill her, and Balto kept this information from her her entire life, so why shouldn’t she be pissed off about her situation. She’s still just a pup, barely old enough to be considered an adult, so she still has a hard time understanding how the world works. It’s not fair, and it’s cruel, but it is what it is. Balto can’t change who he is, and neither can Aleu. Doe that make it right to be angry and lash out at someone? In many situations I would say no, but when it comes to something as serious as finding out something about yourself that you never knew but everyone else did, hell yes it’s right to be angry and want to lash out. But I would also say that not getting adopted was probably the best thing that could’ve happened to Aleu, because she learned that she’s not meant to be a dog, she’s meant to be a wolf, and succeed Nava as the wolf clan leader. That, I would say, is a better opportunity than being a dog.

Yes, Balto is not at fault, but there is a flaw in the script, I mean, if I'm talking about the human Rosie and her parents, did Rosie's parents actually give Balto permission to have puppies with Jenna? And most importantly, since Rosie or her parents didn't know that Jenna had puppies, Rosie could have taken care of Aleu, Balto saved Rosie's life, because her parents or everyone rejects her just like Balto.

I had a wolf dog growing up. He was a wolf/husky/German Shepard and we had all these acres for him to roam around and play. He was my baby and we would sleep in the chicken coop together. I still have his tooth because my biological dad kept his ashes. I miss him everyday♡

I actually created my OC wolfdogs for my Balto books. Their mother is a Karelian Bear Dog, while their father is a captive bred wolf. They were a pack of hunting dogs belonged to their master that lived in Nome. They were feared and respected by other dogs due to their hunting dog instincts. 1. to be fair a wolfdog/wolf hybrid will get characteristics of a wolf most time and that's why alot end up dead or in rescues in real life wolfdogs will behave like a wild animal a bit no matter what which aleu does indeed act like a wolf so she needs to be treated as a wolf as well not just a regular dog because that is not what she is

I tend to identify more with balto because I'm half white and half Mexican but never one or the other and I'm still trying to find where I fit in. I don't hate my parents for not being the same race and alue can't hate balto for not being a full husky.

Honestly, Aleu was never menat to be adopted by a human. She was meant to lead the wolf pack. Balto might of decided to leave the wolf pack, but Aleu joined it. There 2 stories are kinda reversed, Aleu joined the wolf pack as their leader, while Balto left the wolf pack.

Si, les humains ont accepté Balto pour ce qu'il a fait et le considèrent comme un héros. Il n'empêche que les gens en général préfèrent les chiens "sociaux" et qui se sentent à l'aise. Balto est un cas particulier qui est presque toujours en retrait. Outre qu'il est un chien-loup, il vit sa vie comme ça, et c'est sans doute assez mal perçu... En tout cas, pour certains chiens qui restent sur leur préjugé. On ne change pas un raciste pur et dur. Et pour Aleu, elle est plus "sauvage". Donc, elle n'est clairement pas faite pour se faire à la vie auprès des humains. Non pas que les humains la détestent (sauf le chasseur), du moins les habitants de Nome. Mais ils sentent à travers son attitude qu'elle ne se comporte pas tellement comme un chiot. D'ailleurs, elle ne sait pas se tenir comme ses frères et sœurs. Les humains en déduisent donc qu'elle sera très difficile à adopter. Mais en même temps, que se serait-il passé si Aleu avait été adoptée quand-même ? Aurait-elle été longtemps heureuse ?

It seems that people, who worked on this sequel, never watched the original film. Because the characters are totally OOC. As well as there are contradictions to the canon of the original film, hence the sequel created logical holes and plot holes. 1. Why Balto is again ashamed of his wolf heritage, if he embraced his wolf nature and even howled in the original film? The entire character arc and point of the original film were just erased. 2. Why nobody wanted to adopt Aleu, if she is the pure copy of the wolfdog hero, who saved kids of Nome in the original film?! Rosie's family would adopt her no matter what! 3. Why Balto insisted the idea "dog is superior, wolf is inferior, Aleu has to be and will be a dog, her heritage is great 'cause her mom is a PURE-BRED husky", if in the original film Balto said "Since when you need a pedigree to help?" and if Jenna fell in love with the half-wolf, i.e. they rebelled against this obsession with pure breed and proved nobility in their deeds?! 4. Balto's origin. In the original movie Balto's mother was a husky, while his dad was a wolf (the white wolf was a male and a symbol of Balto's wolf side and self-acceptance), i.e. it makes sense, why he lived among humans and dogs, why they know about his mixed lineage, why he wanted to be a sled dog, denied his wolf side and didn't leave Nome with a wolf pack. It makes sense and works perfectly. What we see in the sequel? Balto's mother is the white wolf (according to the writer of the sequel, Aniu is the wolf deity, the Great Mother of all wolves) and his father is some unknown dead beat dog (according to the writer of the sequel, he is a stray dog loner, who mates and then never even knows about possible pups). That means, Balto was basically a wolf demi-god and lived only with mother and knew only his mother-wolf, until he accidentally got lost in the wild, and Boris found and adopted him, bringing to Nome. So, why Balto thought that he's a part wolf instead of a full wolf, if he never had a father and was only with his wolf mother? Why he so badly wanted to be a sled dog and denied his wolf side, if he had fond memories about his wolf mother and was raised by her and then by a wild goose, who disliked humans? He'd hate humans and dogs, he'd want to be with wolves, he'd perfectly know that he's a wolf. Moreover, why humans thought that Balto is a half-breed instead of a wolf? Why Balto didn't leave Nome to find his mother? Why Aniu mated with this random stray mutt? Why she, being a goddess, abandoned Balto to suffer among dogs and humans instead of finding a wolf family for him? According to the writer of the sequel, Balto was a only part of a greater plan, where Aleu is the true chosen one from prophecy. No comments...

@@hayashi5763 I honestly hated the "wolf momma" idea the sequel shoe-horned into the story. The fact that she is a goddess, simply adds a bit more morbid aspects. The funniest and messed up thing about this wolf goddess, which confirms that Balto was unwanted pup for her, and she abandoned him - the sequel implies that the totem pole was always in Nome (in the original film there's no totem poles), i.e. Aniu and other totem animals watched on Balto's suffering and pain since puppyhood, but did nothing to help him and find to him a wolf family. Plus, the scene with wolverines states that these totem deities have no scent. I.e. Balto would never be able to find Aniu himself (and with this details I would even assume that exactly she left the random stray dog - due to the absence of her scent he could think that his dallying with her was just a dream, 'cause "She never was here" - like, even if he is so irresponsible dead beat, who has no idea about possible pups, I doubt that he's stupid and crazy enough to mate with a wolf, especially with the revered wolf deity).
