@willkizer90399 жыл бұрын
I must agree with Nate Sanders, Feminism strikes again... Mad Max is not feminist in any way, it just doesn't make women objects like many and most other movies do. It gives women respect instead of ridicule. (The director himself said the movie had nothing to do with feminism). Just because there is a female lead in an action movie it does not mean that it is feminist propaganda! Learn the distinction, mass audiences, between strong female leads and feminist propaganda in film.

Hey, Dan's hatred for Terminator: Genisys finally paid off. And Star Wars is definitely going to win in the end. Star Wars is so important dead people are going to rise from their graves to go see it, and then probably re-see it again and again and again.

+Cot cot I was never really a Star Trek fan so I loved J.J.'s ones, but I know some Star Trek fans have some problems with them, and like Dan or maybe someone else on the ScreenJunkies said, if you think of them as Star Wars movies they're really good. Apply that to actual Star Wars and I think it's going to bring people to tears. The trailers alone already are. One thing I noticed about J.J.'s films is he's outstandingly good at adding emotions, and taking you on a ride while also creating little moments that have the charm of old Spielberg and Lucas movies. Plus, with the prequels in our past we know exactly how NOT to make a Star Wars movie, so that's a perfect contrast from which to build the new ones. I think we're lucky this time around. I have tons of faith in him. There's too much love for Star Wars for this to not be fucking epic, and I think J.J. really gets that. Not to mention Disney is attached somehow, and that has to mean something good. Look what it did for Marvel.

@MiroslavGnjatovic9 жыл бұрын
The thing that worked in Jurassic World's favor for it to gross so much money was a number of combined factors. 1. Chris Pratt's rising star power from Guardians of the Galaxy 2. The built-up anticipation for another Jurassic Park movie after 14 years since the last one. 3. The people's love and nostalgia for the original Jurassic Park and the promise of returning the franchise to its former glory with Jurassic World.

@dragonrings149 жыл бұрын

@28joshg9 жыл бұрын
+Tommy Carr Hal asked "What's going to end the year, top of the box office?" That means which movie will make the most by Dec.31. There is no way Star Wars can top Jurassic World in only 12 days, it's not physically possible.
@dragonrings149 жыл бұрын
28joshg No that isn't how box office records work. If the movie gets released this year it's part of this year's box office no matter how much it makes in 2016. Examples would be Avatar (highest grossing 2009) making most its money in 2010 or American Sniper (highest grossing 2014) making most its money this year.

I think what was surprising this summer was that so many movies either got passed over, ended up being better than we thought they would be or the opposite. I remember thinking that Mad Max: Fury Road looked really cool, but then I didn't always see a lot of marketing for it, which I think also attributed to a lot of the movies this summer was that there wasn't a lot of marketing done for some of them, which was then a toss-up because it either ended up being a miss like you'd expect it to be or it was a surprising hit that stole the show from another movie you might have thought was the going to be the big movie.

I think everyone didn't realize that Jurassic world was pulling in everyone. It was for the big summer blockbuster crowd and it was for the nostalgic adults who grew up with it and could pull there kids to the movie as well. It was also able to pull in the older crowd who were adults who brought their kids to the original back in the day. It just appealed to pretty much everyone. Also Dinosaurs unlike zombies and super heroes etc. haven't been beaten into the ground. It may have been a reboot but the subject matter was kind of refreshing in today's movie context. Not to mention you had arguably one of the biggest current male movie stars leading the charge coming off a MASSIVE hit with GotG. It was the perfect storm that no one saw coming but everyone should have seen coming in retrospect.

Very surprised that Dan didn't think there were more than a couple "quality" films this summer. This year was the first time in the last decade where I was consistently surprised and entertained. Jurassic World, Mad Max, Ant-Man, Rogue Nation, Vacation and ESPECIALLY San Andreas were all excellent. What was also nice was that the crap films were much easier to weed out - it was clear from the outset that Terminator, Fantastic 4, and Pixels were gonna be awful.

Ricki and the Flash was really only fun because I saw it with my best friend and the theater was practically empty so we got to make some hilarious commentary on it during the film. We were laughing the whole time. Also Sebastian Stan

Amy has great taste, Million ways to Die in the West, have you ever seen such incredible burning chemistry between two main characters? I haven't! Also Mad Max is incredible and its nice to see you guys agreed!

Tomorrowland was the best movie I saw in the whole summer after Mad Max: Fury Road. I honestly don't understand people disliking it so much. It's clever, original, classic, modern, funny... Honestly, everything you can ask from family sci-fi film.

Hey Screen Junkies, I'm a newbie to your channel but I'm a huge fan. Anyways, I believe that Star Wars will be the biggest hit of 2015. Star Wars is loved by an enormous amount of people and has a worldwide fandom that will go bonkers and run down the ticket masters trying to see the movie. Honestly, I'm not even a Star Wars fan but I will still give credit where it's due.

Terminator Genesis was a really fun movie and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I didn't take the movie seriously and loved the comedy aspect of it. The action was fun and all the actors played their part really well.

The biggest movie of the year I think will either be Star Wars or Jurassic World, and the surprise in the fall will either be Black Mass or Legend! I want a Screen Junkies T-shirt SO badly!

I think it's moronic to say "Superhero movie fatigue" when out of almost 700 movies produced by Hollywood annually only 6-7 of them have been superhero themed. Movies get more expensive every year and many people don't have the cash to go 4-5 times in the summer. With that being said, if you like superheros you go see them, if not you don't. I collected comics from 1972 thru 1997, I didn't stop from "fatigue" I stopped because of the 2-3 dollar cover prices! The superhero movies will continue to be cash cows, I just wish that they would stay truer to the source material and have tighter editing for the plot holes. But I will continue to support both Marvel and DC, I can't wait for 2016! P.S. Those that did not see the Avengers: AoU will purchase on demand and Blu-ray, they will get theirs!

Although, you're right on about making better use of the source material. The comics usually feature better characterization, etc, there are so many great things in the comics I feel they didn't make full use of... :( Because of this, most of the films are okay, but could be so much *better* and... that’s only going to cut it for so long.

Fell asleep watching Fan4stic, woke up to see the Hulk throwing a tank. Woke back up after falling asleep again only to see Doom making peoples heads explode while somehow not being able to do the exact same thing against Sue or Richard or Johnny.. Then I see Doom using the force to construct massive monoliths 1000x the size of the Thing, from the ground up. Yet somehow can't move a 500lb boulder named Thing?
