I really like Same Coin Theory, that Bill was Stan's past life and Stan is his "different form, different time." I mean, you can't deny their similarities (in both personalities and stories) and while that could just be symbolic, I'd like to think it's a bit more than that. "A different form, a different time". That's referring to the Bill statue treasure hunt that went on. However, that could be a hint that human Bill will be canon

I saw a theory that said that the "a different time" portion of that indicated that he could have been reborn at an earlier point than when he died, meaning that reborn Bill could exist at the same time as demon Bill. And the magical axolotl from the book stated that he needed to "absolve his crime", so of course he would need to be someone that would go on to do something that would prove he had changed. During the statue hunt, some clues encouraged people to call a specific phone number and it was actually Stan's voice that answered, but referred to the statue as "my statue". Perhaps Bill actually returned as Stan and was absolved of his crimes when he made that sacrifice. It's possible that in the time between, Stan might have gained Bill's memories and realized this, hence why he claimed the statue as his own. Bill reincarnated as Stan and stopped himself, proving that he had changed and redeemed himself. I mean, there's also the chance that Bill forced this to happen by yelling Stan's name after invoking the axolotl. This isn't my own theory, but I like it 'cause it ties a neat little bow on this whole thread and it's actually really thematically appropriate.

Theory: In the show’s finale, As dipper and Mabel left gravity falls, they past the water tower and you start thinking, that’s IT, they left. But, you see them pass ANOTHER one pass by, and bill said he wanted to be able to pass the town border, can it be that once you enter Gravity Falls, and like it says in the Official Journal 3 book, In the mini-golf page “you can never relaxe in gravity falls”. 🤔

I was REALLY deep into all of the crazy fan theories throughout the entire second season of the show. Some of my personal favorites that were either proven wrong or never addressed are the following: - Tad Strange was a demon. The name had been revealed to fans long before he actually made an appearance in the show, and I’m pretty sure he was mentioned in the Bill Cipher AMA, so fan speculation went wild. A lot of people thought he was Bill Cipher’s secret sibling, or that he was still a demon from the second dimension that was similar to Bill. Most people depicted him as a blue square with powers just like Bill. A lot of people were actually kind of disappointed when he was revealed to be a one-off joke character who had no actual significance in the show. - Dipper would be swayed to the dark side by Bill. A lot of people thought that following the events of Not What He Seems, Dipper would feel betrayed by Mabel and become distrustful of his entire family. Many people speculated that this emotional vulnerability would make him an easy target for Bill’s flattery and mind games, and that he would make a deal with Bill and help bring on the apocalypse. I’m pretty sure the theory was referred to as “Dark Dipper,” and a lot of people that the show would go in a very macabre direction because of Dipper working with Bill Cipher. - Time travel changed Robbie Valentino’s childhood. The evidence for this theory is that Robbie’s childhood self looks drastically different in Love God vs. Blendin’s Game. Many fans speculated that either Dipper and Mabel changed his appearance throughout their time travel shenanigans, or that Blendin Blandin was somehow involved in changing his fate. This was unfortunately never addressed in the show, and it’s probable that it was just an example of the show’s staff forgetting about time travel continuity, but I thought it was really interesting. There are probably a few more that I’m forgetting, but I was really deep into those Gravity Falls conspiracy theories back in the day. I probably looked like a tinfoil hat wearing maniac to anyone outside of the fandom, but I had a lot of fun going absolutely wild with theories and speculation. I really wish I could find another show that has the same element of puzzle solving and ongoing mystery that intrigued me so much with Gravity Falls. It was a truly unique experience, and I wish I could relive it. Does anyone else remember these theories?
