Disney has fallen in love with making live-action remakes of their animated classics, taking our nostalgia all the way to the bank. The original Beauty and the Beast is one of their all-time classics, so it makes sense that they would want to cash in on that as well. Although the movie was a huge hit, it definitely raises some questions. Like was there any other reason to make it other than money? Why does the Beast look like a Snapchat filter? Why was the castle randomly crumbling in the final scene? Why does everyone hate Belle so much?
To answer all these questions and more, step inside the pitch meeting that led to Beauty and the Beast! It’s super easy, barely an inconvenience!

The located-in-France-but-we-have-English-accents thing is really annoying to me. I wonder why we’ve coded the accents the way we have. But surely they can have a French accent that isn’t... a stereotype or parody. It just seems like people don’t want to try. “People seem to think English accents are cool and posh and because we want to put emphasis on the characters, we need that accent! No matter that it makes zero sense!” Even “historical” shows do this and it drives me bonkers. 😂
@WouterCloetens
@WouterCloetens 5 жыл бұрын
Amara Jordan Middle class South English accents sounding posh is a very likely explanation. Easy on the ears, as opposed to a French accent. Look up Patrick Stewart's hilarious bit on how they first tried a French accent for Captain Picard in Star Trek. "Space, the final frontier" in a French accent is super cringy. The effect of this is that Americans get confused about European accents and languages. A colleague in the U.S. pronounced my name oddly. When I asked her why, she explained that she tried to use British English pronunciation rules, as I am European. I had to explain that Europe has lots of languages, and they all have different pronunciation and spelling...

@windowsVD 5 жыл бұрын
It actually isn't. Stockholm Syndrome is considered to be an illness due to its irrationality and generally requires the "captive" to develop feelings for "captor" even as the captor remains to still be a threat to the captive. In the film, Belle only develops feelings for the Beast after he changed as he stops being a threat and shows kindness towards her.

@Pasha Staravoitau Apart from the fact that the First Order struck back, what about The Last Jedi was an OT rip-off? My bad.” “Thanks so much, sir.” “So it’s going to be kind of hard to get people to stay interested in the DCEU with the MCU as a direct competitor then isn’t it?” “No it’s going to be super easy, barely an inconvenience.” “Oh really?” “Yeah see we’ll just shift gears into a movie called Brightburn, that’s about a Kryptonian who comes to Earth like Superman did, but he grows up to be evil, and we’ll have it be a horror movie that isn’t actually part of the DC Universe - or is it? Nobody knows and nobody agrees.” “That sounds very risky and even more confusing.” “Thank you, sir.” “Not a compliment.”
