My grandmother called such a thing an Icebox. She said there was a truck that came around to bring ice blocks to put in them to keep things like milk cold. I like it a lot. Good job as usual Sir.

We used one at a hunting lodge with no electricity for a few years. It was mostly galvanized steel and very heavy.. Had to bring in a block of ice every several days. There was an ice pick to chip off ice for drinks. Replaced it with a no electric propane powered refrigerator.

Beer was kept in the well house or root cellar. Many didn’t like their beer ice cold back then, and thought the flavor better just cool. Some folks in the country cut their own ice from lakes and rivers in winter, and kept it covered with straw in an ice house. Was tough keeping us kids out on hot days, though.

Блин, Алекс, я полон эмоций!!! С самого начала я не прочёл, что это пивной холодильник, и был крайне удивлен увидев в дверце замок. Мол, что, они уже тогда холодильник на ночь запирали, дабы кто-то из супругов ночью все продукты не пожрал? Насыщая округу смачным чавканьем? А потом... Потом всё встало на свои места. Особенно если этот холодильник стоит где-то в пивной. Но самый шок я испытал и рухнули мои надежды и чаяния, когда холодное пиво... не полилось из краника... А так об этом мечталось... Спасибо за видео. Всё очень здорово!!! А горе-коментаторы... Бог с ними, - нам-то твоя работа нравится!

I've got a similar ice box and use it still in my garden. Mine was redone nearly 20 years ago, i painted it white. It has a glas filling inside the door frame. It was broken but i did find similar old glas at an old glas shop. It looks good and it keeps my beer cold with icepacks. By the way, you can buy iron keys new which you can cut to fit. I like your icebox, it looks very good!

I started because I have an old sirupate I want to restore but got hooked on his personality and style. Never expected to sit through an icebox restoration but here we are. Довольно любопытно наблюдать как менялись технологии. Ведь всего 100 лет назад электричество массово пришло в дома простых людей. И потому век назад все было по-другому. Холодильник - ящик со снегом, киросинка или примус для освещения и приготовления пищи. Помню рассказы прадеда (он 29 года рождения), когда в деревню провели радио, то они всей деревней в клубе танцевали под музыку. А когда еще и трактор появился вместе с машиной так просто невиданные технологии... Как он мальчишкой бегал до жд станции смотреть на поезд. А вот умер уже дед увидев компьютеры, интернет и многое другое. Человек можно сказать видел и 19 век, и 20, и 21. И такие изменения произошли на протяжении одной жизни. Вот что особенно удивляет. Да тут даже за себя сказать могу. Мне 30. Помню читал / смотрел фантастику. Там были роботы, люди киборги, весь мир был связан единой информационной системой- а теперь это все становится обыденностью. Робот моет полы и стирает вещи, электронный протез тоже становится все доступнее (пока еще дорогой, но не настолько), интернет теперь всегда в кармане и многое другое. P.s. что то меня понесло

Добрый вечер, спасибо, что поделились своей историей и мнением. Я согласен, я сам уже не малой и помню как для рыбалки, что бы добыть червей капал вечером по классике, а опарыша добывал с обрезков мяса и мелкой рыбки. А нынче зашел в магазин там шо хоч. Так же и с компами, помню на диски писали информацию разную, книги, клипы, песни. А сейчас. Да время бежит

I remember back in the day restoration TV shows used to show the breakdown, cleaning, fixing, and reconstruction of things. Then, for some reason they became drama shows that only showed before and after, without any restoration scenes 🫤. This video reminds me of those shows the way they should have been. Субтитры читаю всегда, спасибо автор за ваше старание и заботу о зрителях. И как пожелание, лучше для шпаклевки деревянной мебели использовать автомобильную шпаклевку, так как она превосходит и по твердости и по адгезии шпаклевку для дерева. А так же не растрескивается как деревянная шпаклевка. Это из моих личных практических наблюдений и проб.

@@ScrewsAndTools такая же как и при нанесении шпатлёвки для дерева. Поверхность должна быть очищена от рыхлых частей старого покрытия, зашкурена наждачкой, обеспылена обезжиренна и можно наносить. Шпатлёвки так же существуют нескольких видов. Я пользовался шпатлевкой с фиброволокном для создания слоя и заполнения значительных полостей и финишной для выравнивания огрехов и тонкой доводки изделия. Такой мой скромный опыт.

Привет Мастер. Шикарное восстановление этого холодного шкафа! Хододильником, теоретически, в современном смысле этого слова, его наверное тоже можно назвать. Довольнл спорное отношение решение, морозить лёд в нлрмальнлм холодильнике и загружатб его в это изделие. Возможно вмонтировать внутрь кишки от компактного холодильника-тумбочки типа ,,Кристалл,, поможет реализовать его потенциал. И тогда, в тот бак для дьда, можно будет налить воды и класть в него для озлажденния бутылки с напитками. Прийдётся ещё поразмыслить о теплоизоляции. Хотч, и как тумбочка он хорош! Удачи тебе Мастер! Привет! Понимаете в чем "прелесть" и изюминка? В том, что загружаешь бачок льдом. Т.е. сейчас купить 2кг льда это копейки. К пример для теста очень удобно. Но, что-то мутить из вне тогда предмет будет уничтожен в плане нельзя этого делать и зачем? )

Alex, I love this restoration! It reminds me of being a little boy back in the early 60's , we had a little travel trailer with a ice box very much like the one you beautifully restored! Now that turned out fantastic, and you might have poured the beer wrong, but you opened it and drank it with style! You never pour it straight down into a glass, you pour it into a tilted glass along the side wall. That way you control the amount of head and preserve the carbonization.
