Silent hill brought me here and it's awesome. This was exciting to hear! Amazing.

Best recording of this piece by a country mile.

Yevgeny is one of the best Scriabin interpreters out there. His performance of the 9th sonata is also incredible. Brilliant pianist!

He plays all the extra bits à la Horowitz, but with much greater clarity and facility. Excellent!

I think this is the best version I have seen yet- and since I play it too I take a lot from it! Some key points i've found in the 'difficult bit' for anyone learning: 2:05 - 2:38: notice the change in rhythm (stress changes from start of the bar to the note leading into the bar (you will see in the sheet music)) 2:42 - I would play the tremolos with your right hand: much easier to do and you don't lose any tremolos when you go down to play the chord, compared to his method. 2:49 - absolutely love his pause, and then also (since after Horowitz's performance, we can see this piece is very open to interpretation) play the Bb octave an octave down (just for impact) 3:29 - I see many people play the chords at the top at a quicker pace, stick to his syncopated (correct) way (and all the way through, don't change the speed of them), makes it sound much better. However, I would suggest to anyone who struggles with left hand tremolos to play them with the right hand and then reach over to play the chords with the left. 3:32 - really emphasise change in dynamics here like he does, Scriabin probably was thinking of a knock on effect of particles leading to an explosion of fire in this section (read the context of the poem for more detail- I'd recommend this- kzbin.info/www/bejne/qGS4qnqdZrmGbsksi=pkymkWJ79FbhqtKv) 4:19 to the end - I love his use of the lower octaves here, although not in the sheet music, down to you whether you want to use them! I would make the ending a little faster, given the context of the piece, but don't rush it, it's very important, and watch out for the rhythms. Hope this helped anyone learning!

Interesting insights. I think there is no good interpretation of this piece, perhaps it cannot be mastered. This piece is supposed to emulate the end of all things and that is not easy to play
