Hi! Trying this wave yet using different watercolors & scripture. I love your videos & watch nearly all of them referring back to some often. I was also a part of the Flourish Bible Journaling conference. I’m using this wave for Psalm 37:4 because moving us to Florida was God fulfilling a desire of my heart. love this tutorial! and also totally agree on the bible- I got it, but it's not my favorite either- not watercolor friendly and the text is a bit odd making it more difficult to read for me.... saving mine mostly for acrylic and collage type things I think.... much prefer my interleaved bible.....

Exactly right. I have noticed as beautiful as it is, this Bible does not like water colors. Works great for paper crafting. I get all excited about the Bible journaling and I get the paint you are using and then the new Bible comes out but I hesitate to buy it because no more water colors unless you're super careful? I don't have the advantage of being given the products free for review so my budget demands a FINAL choice. I already have three Bibles yet I want the illustrated Bible. $$$$ Any comments on this dilemma?

On other reviews I have heard about a watercolor prep. Something other than gesso that you cover your page with to make it more watercolor friendly. I think it was LindseyDecor. But may be worth looking into if you want this bible and want to watercolor in it.

Hi, yes I totally get the dilemma! I think it does depend on what you want to do in it. I think it is great for those that do the Illustrated Faith style/ Scrapbook style Bible journaling. It also is great for acrylics, stamps, stickers, and things like that. For me personally, since I tend to stick with my same basic supplies and mostly use watercolors, I prefer my other journaling Bibles. Especially for the price of this Bible, I personally would choose an interleaved Bible instead, which is a quarter of the cost ;). But again, it does have its pros and benefits depending on your art style. And like mentioned below, you can always prep the page. I believe Rebecca is talking about "watercolor ground", which I have used in this Illustrating Bible, but I still did not love the texture it leaves or how it acts with the watercolor (again totally my personal opinion, some people love it). Yeah, I believe you are thinking of "watercolor ground". I have tried it multiple times in the Bible and other surfaces, and still personally don't like the way watercolor reacts on it or the texture it leaves. (I find it very comparable to gesso, and gesso is cheaper haha.) But that's totally my personal opinion, I know a lot of Bible journalers love it :). Blessings!

It is a heat tool. Some call it an embossing heat tool....same thing. It blows little air, but lots of heat to like melt embossing powders and not blow the powder away. This is a wonderful-must have tool for the multimedia crafter. I'm sure you can find it at just about any craft store. I see them at Michael's and Hobby Lobby for sure.

That's defacing the Bible. Disgraceful!!! The margins are used for notes ONLY!!! You don't paint over the word of God!!
