Very helpful video, thanks. I finished my first SiFi screenplay in 2015 then pitched it to Rat Pack Entertainment and had a professional review/edit. Then life got too busy to focus on it (because I have a very successful career in the Medical Devices industry), however, now I'm dusting it off and getting serious about selling/marketing my screenplay. Thanks for all the advice here!

I actually was inspired by 50 cent to start writing screenplays cuz if a man like that who was on top of the rap game for a time that was hustling before he went legit and went broke and now writes some really really good shows. I've been working on my first screenplay for a month now on and off I'm 53 pages in and one day I hope I can write for either the MCU or CBS or the CW etc

Hello Script Reader Pro, about querying Hollywood executives; IMDbPro mostly lists numbers that will surely go to voicemail if I call. Should I leave a message asking about how they handle queries? If someone answers do I make my query right there over the phone or ask for an email or both?

Hi Bershely, great question! We recommend asking the company on how they handle queries. For pitching, it is depending on the person and your conversation. If over the phone, we don't recommend going into a formal pitch but perhaps you can give them a soft idea of your story via a logline. Hope that helps!

Is there any tips for low income screenwriters? The advice should not be " get a better job." Due to health insurance and the pandemic, some people need to stick with a low paying job to survive. This shouldn't be the case, but it is the world we live in. Personally, I have done a few contests with gift money from the holidays, but I know not every screenwriter can afford that either. I know I couldn't if it where not for the gifts. Because of this, I think it be useful to make a video that caters to those whose wallet is limiting there sucess, more then there location or confidence.

Hi JM, you make a valuable point! Our suggestion would be to continue to channel your creativity and use your resources to get feedback. Join online screenwriters communities and find a partner with who you can exchange your script with to get feedback. When I go to the movies, the films are often disappointing. The plots are totally unrealistic and all the action is over the top which makes the movie even more unrealistic. Top Gun Maverick was the best movie I have seen in years. The industry seems to rely on continual reruns of the same old stuff. I guess this is what makes it frustrating for writers with scripts begging to be read.

9:05 "The chances are you will succeed" Really? You said that with a straight face? Literally 50,000 scripts and treatments are registered with the Writers Guild every year and only a few hundred get produced. 99% of aspiring screenwriters will NEVER succeed. If they're lucky they'll marry well or hold onto their day job long enough to earn social security benefits or a pension in their old age. More people earn money working at online services related to screenwriting than from screenwriting itself.
