Jesus said he was sent only to the House of Israel. The Samaritans were Israelites that had intermarried with gentiles. What i get from this is that Jesus recognized them as part of the covenant people, even though the Jews did not.

I am surprised that you would talk about being born again, and not even mention the doctrine about "the baptism of fire and the Holy Ghost." This is the doctrine that is taught in the scriptures. The baptism of water is an event, and the baptism of fire is an event. Like John the Baptist taught, "I indeed baptize you with water, but he who comes after me, whose shoe latchet I am not worthy to loose, he will baptize you with fire and with the Holy Ghost" (Luke 3:16). Christ baptizes us with fire and the Holy Ghost and this event is a mighty change that causes us to become new creatures. We cannot even get on the straight and narrow path until we receive the baptism of fire and the Holy Ghost, according to the Doctrine of Christ (2 Nephi 31:17,18). Joseph Smith taught this plainly, Bruce R. McConkie taught this plainly, and the scriptures teach this plainly - I just wonder why it is not taught properly today. Maybe you can explain it to me.
